Believe it or not, but I found a level 1 common Ash Viper as I flew over SW towards Burning Steppes.  It was found in a flat area in the mountains before you get to the more "finished" parts.  I don't think I had crossed over at that point, but the snake does move.

first try found one, was a grey, but two of its buddies, one was a rare viper :)

very nice, wish they were all like that :) got in the black tooth hovel, where the kodos are. in the burning steppes

Just finished farming for Fel Flames in Shadowmoon Valley, found one uncommon, a ton of common and poor...  BUT...  Ash Vipers spawned as tag-a-longs and picked up 3 rares within 10-15 minutes.  I've never seen rares spawn so frequently like that before!

I'm not sure if it spawns or if its only a pet that joins the battle. I got it when I fought a cockroach and it was the second pet who joined the battle. I wasn't battling pets very long before it showed up.
