Flying around for about 30 min. on Nesignwary, 5am server. I found two spawns. They were on the mountains behind the Dark Portal. Both sightings had two scorlings, either common or poor. After reading all these notes, I will consider myself lucky and use a stone I've been hording. GL all.

I am working on the Kalimdor safari and it lists the scorpling as a pet that needs battled. I don't see it anywhere in Kalimdor. Am I missing it? Any information would be most appreciated.
after three days I found not one but five Scorplings - 1 uncommon 4 poor - on the ledge over the Dark Portal realm time 1;52 ,thx for the tips on where to find him
Very rare pet. Found 2 atm (1 poor, the other uncommon) right behind the dark portal. 5amST Realm: Quel'thalas. Good luck and happy hunting!
I must have gotten extremely lucky, from what I've read from the comments - my first time going for this one, I wound up with an uncommon on my first fight. I found three in the hills above the Dark Portal on Aegwynn (US). Good luck, everyone!
I got lucky today, found a poor scorpling behind the Dark Portal on that little plateau and thanks to the other two pet collectors was able to switch out to the right team to capture him. Hoping for a blue stone to make him rare! :) Good luck to you others! It is 102am Zangarmarsh time, or 403 am EST. I was on a Horde toon. Thank you nice other 2 Alliance players who waited for me.
Still waiting to get this. Don't knwo if anyone noticed but it is on the list for the Kalimdor Safari achievement, not sure why. I have not found anywhere on any map where it is on Kalimdor. I am heading to look around AQ, but anyone have thoughts as to why this is on the Kalimdor Safari list?
just got a common 1 1st time i ever looked for it i flew around the mountains looking then went and battled a fire beetle came back up the mountain just above the cave and there he was all alone no more to be found in the mountains
Just got a poor one. I killed everything I could find in the whole zone befor one spawned. I'm happy tho, at least I got one!
I've been searching for a spawn of this pet for about two weeks. Finally saw my first one today, and it was uncommon! Just as everyone else had said, it was in those mountains right behind the portal. Patience is the key.
I feel bad, I killed 5 of these suckers one after another because I didn't know they were rare-ish spawns... luckily I was the only pet hunter out there at the time. Finally 2 more spawned after an hour and I got a common one >_<;
Have tried looking for this at night, during the day, and just now.. finally, found a lone poor quality up in the plateau behind the Portal in Blasted Lands.
Realm time was around 9:30am on the Blade's Edge server.
Took about 2 hours of flying around to find it ... tip, just kill all battle pets and keep flying around til you find it.
I agree that if there are no Scorplings behind the Dark Portal, battling the pets in the Tainted Forest will make them spawn. Saw none, went to Tainted forest and battled all the pets there then flew over the area and there was one scorpling in the hills. Only a poor quality, but for now it works! Good Luck!
Finally got one after weeks of searching. Just was sitting right there waiting for me around noon. Rare on top of that :)

Just battle others. I just got it as 2nd and 3rd pet on a battle against a fire beatle (both uncommon btw)
just got mine above the dark portal. from looking at other comments i feel lucky that the first one i have seen was uncommon quality. no more were there.
Found one directly over the Dark Portal.
Its a grey quality, but I'm aiming for completion and then quality!
Only one I saw too, so I grabbed it!
Just got a poor quality. Didn't see any so I went into the tainted forest and killed a dozen or so mobs then went to 63, 60 and sure enough one was there. Just happy to have one even a poor.
