Hunting Log, Day 23: My raptor hatchling expedition has taken me to the strange and eerie Wailing Caverns. As I write this log, I'm eating a peculiar fish that I caught in a nearby pool. But something strange is happening to me. I... I'm getting bigger and... less intelligent. I'm becoming human! I try to scream, but all that comes out is "Yaaarrr!" Curses! I be a pirate! (And I don't wanna be a pirate!) 'Least now I be taller than that landlubbin' yeti. Think I'll slit th' throat of that scurvy dog... yar.

1. This pet still drops from Deviate Guardians/Ravagers in the first area of the Wailing Caverns. (70+ fruitless runs)
2. There is a God of WoW.
3. He/She doesn't hate me with a passion burning hotter than the area of Ragnaros' chest that would normally contain a heart. Seriously, no rare pets ever drop within the posted drop rate for me.
I'd cry if my undead tear ducts still produced tears.
Today i farmed for this pet and in the 4th run i killed 4 raptors at ones. And 3 of those droped the pet!!
What are the chances of that?!

This raptor is pretty much the same as the other raptors. I only wanted him to complete my collection. I doubt I will bring him out that often. I rather use my Boomkim which can walk or fly.
I was very lucky and have all the hatchlings that come from nests.
There are 24 raptors in the instance. Each raptor drops either a tooth or a flecked deviate scale.
If the drop rate is 1 per 1000, you may have to do 50 or so runs through the instance.
I did 16 runs today.
You don't have to worry about others when farming this hatchling because you are in your own instance.
You can only do 5 runs in a dungeon per hour.
Now if only we could name them!
I got one on my first attempt... ran it again and got two more in one run! After that I started to make it a habit to check all the spots in Kalimdor when I'm not busy. I've picked up a couple more from WC since then, but I'm 0 for about the last 7 now. :P
Go fig.
Decided to take my mage over and farm this lil guy up today and after 103 kills I got it. Since the mobs you need are only in the very front part of hte instance, best bet is to kill them all and then simply run out, reset and keep going. Good Luck. Now on to farm one for hubbie. :)
I got this after one loot... Im still amazed. MAybe Blizzard has taken pity on me after it took me four weeks to get the phoenix hatchling at the Magisters Terrace (and yes, the phoenix hatchling was meant to be a one-in-ten drop) whereas the deviate one is still (i think) a one in 100 drop? : /
Anyone farming for this, dont give up.. you could get lucky.
I don't know if I deserved to be this lucky, but I got it after only six kills.
