These voracious carnivores first arrived on Azeroth aboard the draenei's dimensional fortress, the Exodar.
I feel the need to post this on "faction specific" pets. Your battle pets are ACCOUNT WIDE. If you need a pet in a hard to reach area, simply make a character of that faction. In this case, make a Draenei and spend an hour or so leveling, the time investment is going to be about the same, but its going to be much less frustrating than trying to sneak across on the boats.
Getting to Azuremyst Isle and Bloodmyst Isle isn't easy if your Horde. For Horde: Fly to Darkmoon Shore, get the closest point that you can to Teldrassil. As you fly to Teldrassil you will have fatigue, but you will only get a half bar before you hit the docks. Then sneak on to the West Dock in the village for a boat to the Isles for your pets.

Got a rare on my second try just West of Blood Watch.
I got a rare on the 5th fight. Pretty glad too, since I did this on my BElf mage and it's a real pain to get out to Bloodmyst for a Horde, so I didn't want to have to go back there again.
It took a couple hours of farming but I captured a Breed 3 rare on the north side of the island. I wasn't too pleased with this so I decided to keep at a bit longer and I got the all-attack Breed 4 rare after another half-hour or so. Nice!
Picked one up in Bladewood, just NE of Blood Watch.
Took about an hour, got my rare near Blacksilt.
Captured my rare after many tries, found it in Nazzivian, near Blacksilt Shore.
I love these nasty little ugly-cute bundles of teeth and claws. Unfortunately all the hatchlings seem to only come in green, unlike some other battle pets that can have color variations (dung beetles, rabbits, frogs). I tamed 5 Ravager Hatchlings before I got a rare and they were all the same color.
1st one I came across rare!
My Rare was a level 3 also, I found it after an hour by the lake south of the Vector Coil. Not sure if it means anything, but I figured it was worth noting.
Took some time but i finally got my rare near the Cryo Core :D be careful though as mine was only level 3 not 5.
The third ravager I captured was a rare one.. Luckily it didn't took that long.
