This wild pet can be found in The Gaping Chasm and The Noxious Lair in Tanaris. It only spawns during sandstorms.

I just got this guy at 8:15 pm EST on Kirin Tor realm. Lots of them everywhere, and I was lucky enough to get an uncommon too :)
Sandstorms covers all of Tanaris when they happen but this guy only spawns in Noxious Lair & The Gaping Chasm it doesn't help much but Sandstorm Zul'Jin at o8:45 on 3 may 2013 lasted about 10min.////update another storm today this one around 3:30 lasted around an hr
Finaly got it today, had a alt there and as soon i log in there was a sandstorm and i got my rare at 1 try and there where allot others but i was happy i had it. happy hunting all. only 1 to go :)
Finally, my parked alt awoke to sand blowing in his face. Found a rare after about half an hour of desperate hunting. As this lower level alt had no bandages, to avoid the 10% health penalty for fleeing, I'd use my Azure Whelplings 'Surge of Power' to kill the secondary pet in one hit so I could get back to hunting that rare down asap.
Found a rare 7:53pm server time, found the rare in the southern silithid lair. There were a bunch of uncommons in the nest to the north and west. Hope this helps someone
been checking for sandstorm for almost a week now on 2 characters parked on two servers a few times daily. nada. woke up this morning checked and viola. sand in the air. battled total of maybe 6 silithids, best i caught was a uncommon. then the sand stopped!! glad i had that 15 minute window where i was able to grab a few.
he was my second last one. just waiting for Qiraji Guarding (in 10 days hopefully) for zookeeper achv.
Caught an uncommon spawn at 6am realm time after finding nothing but poor spawns. I then battled another poor with a rare Desert Spider and got the Flawless Beast Battle-Stone from it! Not bad, means I can make it rare myself :D
Just got one, and even a rare! Sand storm was on right after today's server restart. It's totally adorable! :) @ Jaedenar EU
Server Vashj time 2 am server. Camped a toon there and logged in to a sandstorm in the Noxious Glade....there were LOTS there and I battled at least 10....Got nothing better then a common. So I guess I'll have to stone him.
Just got this on Argent Dawn. Parked a toon in Tanaris at one of the bug camps and waited for sandstorm. Now just have to wait for summer for Zookeeper. :)
I was over in COT looking for a better quality Infinate Whelpling.. thought I'd check the area.. There just happen to be a sand storm! I managed to get an uncommon after sifting through SEVERAL poor and common ones. So you can probably nab one for the achievement.. but it might take sometime getting anything better than an uncommon. I also managed to get a uncommon sand kitten as well while battling one. Also got a rare sea gull. Nice haul.
Just got mine in The Noxious Lair. Even though there were about 5 people there with me, there were constant spawns; I only went a few seconds between each spawn, checking for rares. After 75, yes, exactly 75 spawns, I finally found a rare. Captured it, but I didn't like the breed, so I kept looking. About 50 spawns later I found another rare, not the best breed, but better than the last. Captured it and I captured a green of my preferred breed and called it good.
I litterally had my finger on the ESC key to log off for the night when a sandstorm hit. So many of these cute little guys all over the place. Rare was tough to find, but finally found one. There were plenty of these little guys waiting for everyone that was there. Good luck to everyone on getting this cutie.
Got mine last night finally, first battle and a rare, decided to keep trying and got all 3 rares in 5 battles, finally something went my way in these battles, now to wait till summer to catch the last one.
FINALLY after camping non-stop since 2:30 am the sand storm finally started at 7:30 pm! Got the rare Silithid Hatchling too! ^,^
I decided to park myself on a little hill for 3 days untill i actually saw the first storm. There was one other person there and my 4th one was rare and there was a few of them still left for other people so i dont feel bad :)
Ha! I know that pets will show up when you are taxi-ing over them but disappear ala crz when you land-- but, entire sandstorms?? lol Still hunting this guy!
Found loads in the Gaping Chasm. Kept forfeiting til I got a rare :)
I just made ready for hours of camping this little guy. Just when i left CoT a Sandstorm started and i was able to catch 3 of them. No rare´s, but good breed ID. I hope for a battle stone soon :)

I've been regularly checking Tanaris for sandstorms ever since Pandaria opened, but had only seen one sandstorm before this morning (and there were no spawns at that time.) But today I finally got lucky. Not only did I arrive during a sandstorm, the spawns were plentiful. As I flew around The Gaping Chasm (I never needed to check The Noxious Lair), there were dozens of the little teal bugs waiting to be battled. My second battle was an Uncommon. Because the respawns were so frequent, and there was only one other person in that area battling, I decided to keep hunting. I wound up getting one Rare of each breed. It took me about 25 minutes total. I never had to search for more than five seconds to find another spawn. By the time I left, there were two or three other players looking for pets and the respawn rate was just as plentiful. Hopefully this is the norm now and it won't be quite so painful to get one of these weather-dependent bugs.
