Demon Fall Canyon in Ashenvale is a very good place for Maggots. They re-spawn quickly and I got my rare after about 45 minutes as a primary when battled.

This pet is an awesome catch if its a rare, alot of HP, good self healing/damage combo, can take alot of damage.  If you play him correctly, he is one of the best pets to have as an anchor for a core team.

Can also be found in Howling Fjord - both as a primary pet (in Halgrind, at least), and as a secondary pet throughout the whole zone. If you're looking for one to actually battle with, the Fjord's probably the best place to go.
