Just tamed this at 8:48pm server on Area 52. It was a secondary pet to the infinite whelping.Â
I've never seen one as a primary. Caught my rare with a rattle snake northwest of Valley of the Watchers. (Slightly above where the V is on the map.) Hellscreem 3:05 AM CST.
Update: What do you know. They do exist. LOL I just saw one SW of Gagetzan. It was a rare.
These wander around... not many... but they are there... most of the sand kittens you'll see will be a secondary figther to another pet... so click on everything you see..
There does NOT have to be a sandstorm for these to spawn... thats the silithid hatchling...
Been on this for ages.. seen tons of poors, commons and uncommon... but no rares so fare... so still hunting..
after looking around and "piggy backing" other captures, i found 2 sand kittens wandering, and got one grey, and an uncommon stinkbug, the other kitten i found wandering was a rare :)
which is great cause i love rares and cats :)
found around the broken pillar. in tanaris 52.50
I got mine as second pet while fighting a Stinkbug.
Just got my first one, an Uncommon, wandering across the sand right by The Noxious Lair on the way down from Sandsorrow Watch. This thing is FAST! (Oh, and no sandstorm!)
I have a special love-hate relationship with this pet. She sounds so gorgeous and heartbreaking when you're fighting her, but watch out if she's the secondary pet to the one you've just caught. There is nothing worse than her killing all your pets and you losing your captured pet.
When I went hunting for this I only found them as secondary battle pets. Eventually found a rare tag-teamed with a scorpion near Gadgetzan. Just to back up a previous comment, they did seem to be more commonly teamed with the sea gulls.
Found one right outside Gadgetzan....no sand storm...and it was rare...first one. YAY!
This kitten CAN be found even though there is no sandstorm, I just had one as and add to a Striped-tailed scorpid.
found during a sandstorm next to gaping chasm :) 8.30pm ocenic server time
hello all i just found mine ;) between gadgetzan and sorrow watch was just killing the scorpions, the beetles and a sand kitten popped up on the minimap and it was a rare ;) was only lookin for it bout 15 or 20 min so i think i got lucky hopes this helps.
Likewise got him as a secondary, near Gadgetzan. Found one wandering in Abyssal sands, no sandstorm.
Did find one wandering by itself, was during a sandstorm, they always seem to be poor quality so far
This guy is always the second pet in a battle group, I recommend going to the very south end of Tanaris, where the turtles are on the beach and there are a lot of Sea Gulls, they tend to piggy back to those guys, and on most of the beach areas for some reason, but unfortunutely almost all of them seem to be poor quality. I've also found them randomly piggy-backed in other places less often but only once or twice on it's own. A few uncommon, I've probably gone through a dozen now and no rares.
I just found a Sand Kitten near Thistleshrub Valley wandering around and I was able to capture it.
I found one straight away as soon as i came into Tanaris and had to leave battle as i had lvl 4 pets equipped and as yet have not come across another. I now feel slightly sick after reading your comments that he may be a rare spawn...
I just came across a sand kitten wandering around, so they do exist outside of a secondary wild pet companion. His partner was also a Sand Kitten. (Near Broken Pillar)
Edit: Just came across a second pair of Sand Kittens in the middle of the desert, not 5 minutes after finding the first pair.
Like Poundcake, I also caught this little guy when fighting another pet (a stripe-tailed scorpion). I've never seen one otherwise. I actually laughed, because while flying around Tanaris looking for the Sand Kitten, I just happened to fight the scorpion. And lo and behold, there was my kitten.Â
I caught this little fellow on the back of another mob. I flew around for the better part of two hours hoping to find it as a rare, but only came across ONE of it's kind and it was poor quality. :(
He's one of my favorite fighters!
