Cheetah Cub

I found my rare easily at 1:20am server time, under a tree in Northern Barrens, at 53.8, 65.3.

Thanks a lot for the tip about a rare at 41,18 in Southern Barrens! Can confirm that it works, found a rare one there. =)

Found this little beauty SE of Crossroads on my way to Ratchet around 1:00am (too excited to remember to write down exact time/location-sorry) under a tree with a whole pride of lions! They must have adopted her because I could not find her mother anywhere. First rare pet I found and didn't even know battle pets had ratings other than poor until her. Beacause of this little cub I found WarcraftPets.com in order to figure out what rare means in pet lingo. I owe her so much.   

Read on another message board that they spawn under trees with "their mother."  This helped a lot in finding them.  I found about 6-7 poors before I found a rare.  Found it south of the Staganat Oasis just south of the building shown on the map.  (on Hellscream at about 12:20 AM)

Found my rare lvl 10 at Southern Barrens, under a big tree right next to the Great Divide (41,17).

found this lil guy behide a tree with its mommy and i was very lucky i got it striaght after i got the youge harpling it was like right next to that area =]

Captured the firate one I saw which was poor, spotTed a second one and got my rare! 

I spotted this cub on the minimap using the flightpath from orgrimmar to thunder bluff, so i immediately returned to catch it. It was my first pet catch, and it was a rare! 

I followed many of the tips here and finally got my rare. The key is to kill the Plainsland Cheetahs that spawn under the trees who don't have cubs with them. The new ones that spawn will most likely have cubs, and continue to have cubs at approx 5 min intervals. I marked the ones that did with world markers so I wouldn't kill them. It took me about an hour to get a rare, but there were PLENTY of uncommons.

I found another location and lvl for these, there where 2 cheetah cub spawns right outside Honor Hold in Southern Barrens, lvl 9 both of them. Might be worth checking out if you have trouble finding them in North, or just want them as lvl 9 instead of lvl 3 :) It was 9pm on Defias Brotherhood server.

found a rare cheetah cub on the SB side of the great divide, near a big tree south of honor stand, right below hunters hill, near where the alliance gaurd is fighting the horde hill hunter dude.

I noticed there is one area in particular that seems to spawn the Cheetah Cub a lot.  If you look for the troll, quest giver Kala'ma, the tree he is at seems to spawn them all the time.  I sat around this tree killing other wild pets in the area and watched as that tree spawned 10+ Cheetah Cubs, including one rare that I caught. Good luck to any interested in catching this pet.

Make a rough loop of all the shady trees close to Xroads and kill the mother/adult cheetahs. The cubs will spawn with the mother what looks like 2/3s the time. Took less the three for a uncommon and less the 15 for a rare.

One that I have seen spawn multiple times is right outside crossroads by the tree with the cheetahs around it.

These guys do spawn with their parent mobs however these can be under almost any of the trees in the northern barrens not just by the river.
