This pet is obtained via open-water coastal fishing on the Darkmoon Island. See El's Extreme Anglin's guide: Catching Sea Pony for more information.

Players may only farm for this pet one week per month due to the Darkmoon Island only being accessible the first week out of every month.

The Sea Pony has a unique summoning animation in which the player's hands are enveloped with globes of water, and a splashing animation and noise is made upon the pet's spawning.

I got one in about 20-25 casts!! (Maybe closer to 50 if you count the other times i fished there) And right after my 500 Fish achievement :)

Got it after 663 casts today. I shouldn't have read all of the posts about it being super quick before I went to get it. It was a bit disheartening. If it takes you awhile though, don't lose hope!

Between 3pm and 2am yesterday, I got it on 6 of my people. (Also did all the quests, some dungeons and some dinner. :P) Husband had about the same luck on 4 of his toons, but he's been having difficulty getting it on his DK (at 720 casts, still no pet). Any of the water works, but the sealed crates are a lot of fun to open. ^_^ Easy to get most of the time but it's all random.

Edit: Husband got it after 939 casts.

I caught him last night while starting the Faire's daily fishing quest. I almost fell out of my chair in surprise!!
He is easily seen onscreen, and his tail sticks out of the back of the bubble sometimes. He was able to follow my windrider.

I got this sweet cute little guy in three casts, I was super lucky. My friend who didn't have a fishing skill learned it so she could get it. This isn't fishing lvl dependent, she got hers at 100 casts! :) Happy fishing!

I didn't even know about this new pet, yet... until I was losing heavily on achieving the bullseye for the cannon blasts. I swam up next to the teleporter dude, "O hai thar. Whatchu fishing?"

I just fished this up from Darkmoon Island and am very pleased with it! Its adorable and the bubble creating graphic when you first summon it is very nice.
Fished up with a skill of 201 in fishing and I believe you can start fishing there whilst catching no junk at level 75.

I never have luck with my main that I collect on and did not know of this pet yet and first cast with my rogue for the quest at Darkmoon there he was :-). Will definately be mailing to this toon on here.

Got mine in 114 casts. I'm glad the drop rate has been updated. I was seeing this lil guy way too much and witnessing too many crazy first cast drops for him, feeling horrified that he could still be as rare as a 1/1000 and wondering why everyone else was so lucky

I always wanted a pony when I was a small gnome, but I never imagined I'd find one living in a bubble! No... it's not quite the pony I dreamed of as a child, but it does provide a percolating playmate for my water elemental.
