A flying mount or flight form (druids) is required to fish for [Mr. Pinchy]. When you click [Mr. Pinchy], he grants a wish. You get three wishes total. Wishes are on a 48-hour cooldown. One of five possible outcomes is a [Magical Crawdad Box]. Therefore, this already rare item does not even guarantee the drop, making the pet even more rare. 430+ fishing is recommended. It was minutes before my 3rd wish was available when my friend invited me to come to Silithus with him to witness him earning the Thunderfury. I save my wish and wait patiently for his achievement to be announced in our guild.
As soon as it happened, I right-clicked Mr. Pinchy and got an achievement of my own! I now refer to his new sword as "Thunderstolen," Blessed Blade of the Windseeker.
For those encountering Magical Crawdad and Singing Sunflower in PVP, counter with a Gilnean raven on your team or the Jademist Dancer.
Unlike what his description says, you don't have to have fishing 430 to catch Mr. Pinchy! I just caught him on my Warrior whom had fishing 124 on the cast that landed him. I also got lucky in being rewarded with the Magical Crawdad box on my first wish! Thanks Mr. Pinchy!
@ Shrew: It's not a glitch, nor is it a downside. Read the tooltip of Wish, it says it heals the active pet. So if you want to switch the Crawdad out immediately after using Wish, switch to a pet that could use a heal, as the Wish will hit the pet you switch to, not the Crawdad.
MOST annoying battle pet to battle against. Is really annoying, thats the only word, if it's mixed with the "SunFlower" and something like Firewing.. I saw that team.. or could be with puddle terror also instand of the Sunflower.. really this pet... is very hard to beat in combination with the sunflower.. and than the puddle terror or the Firewing it was hard.. and they stayed all with like 80% of health. BUt even without the others Call me MR. Crawdaddy. Why not have this. L................................................. egendaaaryyyy
This little guy was one of my first pets. He isn't entirely necessary once you find more aggressive counters to Undead or Elementals, and he sees a lot less action now, but I wouldn't be where I am without my Magical Crawdad, Jacques. There is no enemy too terrible for the Crawdad to face down.
Also, having this pet in your team effectively renders your enemy's Unborn Val'kyr (And a wide variety of other Undead pets) utterly and completely useless.
This is by far the most underated pet. I have this pet as the number 1 battle pet. When I first saw it - I thought ...yeah..right. Then I lost a few times with it while leveling. But I stuck with it then got to level 20. Wish....woh. The combo on this pet and its ability to heal other pets - made this the first game changer pet. GET IT! I actually like hit looks and think a face re-do would make it exceptional.
This was the first battle pet I got up to 25 and I still use him regurarly for PvP and PvE.
Abilities I use:

Anytime he gets to half health use wish. Abilities like swarm or a poison tick do very little damage with shell shield. Snap is a fairly weak ability so it can make for slow battles but he rocks.
Down side: Unless this is a glitch, if you use Wish (1 round ability) but then swap him out, Wish will NOT heal him while he is in the back.This guy's a stud. Leveled him from 1 to 25 and he was almost always pretty much my tank. Crazy health, nice heals, and good steady damage make him a formidable, if unspectacular, part of any team. Mine is named "Mssr Pinchy".
It might not be the easiest pet to get, but if you are serious about battling and levelling your pets, you CANT go without the Magical Crawdad. I would argue this guy is the single most useful pet in the game for blowing through single-player content and it can even SOLO a couple of pandaria trainers. Wish being a ridiculously great heal, a huge health pool to abuse said heal, shell armor to basically nullify stampedes and other DoTs - this immovable wall will make your game EZ mode.
Mr. Pinchy makes a great power leveler for your team. With his area heals that last three rounds (you can switch another character in for two of those rounds), and his "Wish" that heals the next battle pet for 50 percent of their hit points, Mr. Pinchy makes an excellent cleric for your battle pet party.

When you Wish upon a star...
This is my go-to pet for nearly every PVE battle and absolutely for training my other pets. If I manage the heals correctly, I never have to bandage, go to a stable master or use "revive" at all. She can solo most level 25 teams (occasionally have issues with the epic hard hitters) - not quickly, mind...she's not a big damage dealer, but because I can count on how much she'll hit for, she's perfect for capturing as well. Patience is required at times...but slow and steady has won many races for me.
1147 casts in the big lake making the circle around and around and around....
800+ crawdads caught....61 crates...
Finally got Mr. Pinchy....first 2 wishes, Bupkis....3rd wish, bingo!
Stoned him to 25 instantly, with the team heal, the wish heal, and Surge which always goes first...he's a nice little pet
Took 11 hours total start to finish at 800 fishing skill, with Twilight Angler pole, and Fishing Hat Buff.... I was well over 1000 skill................................................. seems pretty RNG to me
Went from 79 to 225 fishing before I caught mr pinchy, second wish got me the magical crawdad!
update: caught 4 more mr punchy since the first one and haven't got another magical crawdad :/
Top pool around 20th cast got two in a row. Nice to have this one. Still fighting for the Disgusting oozeling.
Started at 25 fishing, got Mr Pinchy when hit 116 and got the pet first time :) then found another Mr Pinchy a few casts later so 5 more charges.
