Weakened by Capture

I recently moved to capturing Pandaria pets and finally drew a Rare Masked Tanuki Pup(L24) and captured it (after 3 strong trap misses). After the battle was over, I noticed the message Weakened by Capture to level 22 and was curious what this was about. Is there any way to avoid pets de-leveling?

Unfortunately, there's no way to avoid this. Only two level ranges will "weaken" after being captured, though:

- A level 16 to 20 wild pet will lose 1 level when caught.
- A level 21 to 25 pet will lose 2 levels when caught.
