Babaaz,

Well im the same way you are, i mainly only go after Rares, but some pets like the Minfernal or S. Welp if you get a chance at one of these and you end up fighting a non rare, just cap it and use a stone on it.

The only 2 wild pets ive ever goten that were no rares are the Minfernal and Festival Turtle, and so far ive used a Aqua stone on the Turtle. I wont use my Magic stone on the Minfernal till i get the breed i want.

Hope this helps.

I believe there is one achieve to catch an uncommon pet. Take the highest quality you can get. When you find one higher replace it.

With the chance for battle stones to drop, I am as concerned now with getting the breed ID to drop as I am for getting a rare. I will hold onto a good breed ID, even if it is poor, over an uncommon or even rare that is not a good breed. I slaughtered the entire shelf full of Flayer younglings and got no good breed ID's or a rare, which was disappointing, though I did level up an undead pet doing it.

How does one determine what breed is good?

This is what I do as well. Even if it is poor quality, I'll keep it until I find a higher quality one.
