I’ve gone up against the Sunreaver post nerf probably half a dozen times or more. I’ve never lost.

Lightning is Pheromones best friend

Kovok Health Power breed has 1465 HP Sunreaver has 1400

Round 1
Kovok Poison Fang 231 + 77 = 308
Sunreaver Extra Plating

Round 2
Kovok Pheromones
Sunreaver Lightning 647
Pheromones (hits end of turn) 77+43 to both backline pets or 240
Poison Fang 116 (elemental damage) + 43 /2 or 80

Round 3
Kovok Puncture Wound 618 /2 or 309 + 86 lightning /2 or 43 = 352
Sunreaver Fel Imolate 189 + 43 = 232
Pheromones 240 again
Poison Fang 80 again

End of Round 3 Kovok has done 1300 damage
Sunreaver has done 879

Round 4 Kovok Poison Fang (now hits for 1.25 beast racial) 308 + 77 + 43 + 43 x1.25 /2 = 294
Sunreaver Laser 310+43 = 353
Pheromones 240 x 1.25 = 300
Poison Fang above
Fel Imolate 86 + 43 = 129

End of Round 4 Kovok has done 1894 damage
Sunreaver has done 1361 Sunreaver has taken 1408 he is in his safety round

Round 5 Kovok Poison Fang 294 Sunreaver dies
Pheromones 300

End of Round 5 Kovok 2488 Sunreaver less than 1400

Someone good at the math part please correct me

That sounds risky. Call lightning benefits both pheromones and poison fang.

Kovok isn't worth using anymore, there's no need to counter it. Also, the elemental portion of Poison Fang is Strong against mechanicals and Call Lightning buffs pheromones.

Where are you getting 240 out of 77+43?

It hits both back line pets so it's x 2

Both backline pets, yes...but you were doing an analysis PER ROUND. There's no way in hell that 77 damage on one pet + 43 damage on another pet during the course of ONE round = 240 damage on that round. I don't know if we're on the same page, but where I come from, you don't use a multiplier just cuz there's 2 pets receiving damage.

77 is from the Pheromones hits both pets total = 154
43 is from the lightning hits both pets = 86

154 + 86 = 240

Call Lightning was ridiculously powerful with unnerfed Kovok. But now Kovok deals piddly amounts of damage with Pheromones. You are better off using him as a poison user and taking the heal instead.

While its sad to see an interesting ability nuked, it just had far too much of an impact on the pvp game. -EVERYONE- was using it as it was that good.

Ok, gotcha now. I did not factor in the Lightning when I read the Pheromones line of damage up there. :) I also mistook you and thought that it was 77 damage to one pet (non Aquatic/Flier) and 43 to the other (Aquatic/Flier, since they take reduced Pheromone tick damage).

Yep, well put. Now, had Blizzard just taken my advice and lowered the Pheromones damage to ~100 per tick (give or take a few pts. in damage for randomness), everything woulda been fine. There'd be no reason to swear off Pheromones forever, and people still might be encouraged to go ahead and try out some of his other abilities.

Just don't use Pheromones, lol...it hits like a wet noodle that's been dipped in butter and melted down in a frying pan filled with Pam cooking spray. Sure, you could try and set it up with all sorts of damage/crit buffs, but you'd waste too many turns and swap out too many times for too much HP loss than is worth it.

Which reminds me...I've gotta start trying out my teams that utilize other Kovok abilities...like his heal and maybe Body Slam even.

[ability]Body Slam[/ability] is an awful ability on Kovok. It comes with 1 turn cd, and doesnt really match up well with [ability]Puncture Wound[/ability] or [ability]Black Claw[/ability]

If you take Body Slam, then you only have the option to use your heal, or spamming Black Claw on downtime turns.

Infact for my HP Kovok, [ability]Poison Fang[/ability] has a base damage of 231, which would be 462 over 2 turns, and Body slam does 463 damage and hurting yourself for 201 damage every 2 turns. And thats nots counting in the dot from Poison Fang which will be be boosted from Black Claw, beside it amping each hit of the main attack. Showing Poison Fang as the superior choice. Plus it also plays well with Puncture Wound for an alternative setup.

Yah, Body Slam is kinda lame, sadly. The really lame thing, though, is what they did to Pheromones. It's like swinging a whiffle ball bat at about 1/3 strength, hoping to actually hurt someone.

Swapping out Pheromones to Digest Brains has made Kovok a viable fighter.

Indeed. Won a match last night using Kovok w/Poison Fang, Digest Brains and Black Claw. My opponent was using a heal-heavy comp.

Kovok is a really great support pet now. Black Claw can be really powerful, sandstorm is not even a problem, and Kovok is the sturdiest pet that can apply Black Claw(with digest brain mind you). The raptors are just a bit too squishy.

Pair it with dot/multi attack. Clockwork Gnome, 341 power Moth with Moth balls(this one truly hurts), or regular culprit Valk, just some examples.

Thats some good combos for Kovok. Poison Fang, Black Claw, Swap to Yellow Moth. Should be massively painful idd.
