wild pets with non-damage 1st attacks

i've noticed that cogblades almost always use a non-damaging first move, which makes them very good for power leveling those level 1 pets. unfortunately, there are few of them, and they are often camped.

does anyone know of more common, high level, wild pets with a non-damaging first attack?

Vale of Eternal Blossoms has Aquatic pets which use an assortment of non-damaging abilities. Striders have only 1 Ability Slot with damaging attacks, the other two are occupied by Healing Wave/Cleansing Rain and Soothe/Pump, so your pet has a 1 in 3 chance of being attacked on the first round. For safe measure, you can use Darkmoon Zeppelin's Decoy (if you have it) or Food Coma provided you have a Turkey to ensure one round of no attacks once you swap in your lowbie.

I would also recommend the Vale of Eternal Blossoms as well as either the Darkmoon Zepplin, or the Mechanical Dragonling. Both have decoy to help that lvl 1 survive.

The fact that the Vale also has a high level of pets makes the experience very good, especially for the lowbies.

Grassland Hoppers use a heal first sometimes. And cocoon strike doesn't kill a lvl 1 even if the level one is weak to it. So 2 out of 3 won't kill a lvl one. If it does die though, just move on to the next lvl 1 until you want to bandage. Because one battle with a 24-25, and a 1 will ding 6 (with a hat) and then they can withstand one attack usually. Vale is awesome because with one exception they are all aquatic and all the aquatics have a very small chance of starting with an attack.

One of the places that I liked to lvl my lvl 1 pets was with the battle trainer in Deadwind pass because the elemental always seemed to open with thorns which was good for me. So I brought in my lvl 1 pet and instead of thorns he comes over and poisons me. First time I had seen him use that ability and it was against my lvl 1 pet and my pet dies.
Now I still use that battle tamer, but I make sure that one of my frogs has Cleansing Rain ready to use and then I don't have to worry about the poison.

I have learned to never try to lvl a pet against a spider. Stupid web. I will still forget against turtles sometimes and their Grasp ability gives me a bad day.

Dragonbone hatchlings in Dragonblight often start with cyclone which doesn't kill my lvl 1 pet on the first go-round, but sometimes will kill them when they're in the back row.

They're not very prevalent in Icecrown, but whenever I find a cockroach I use him to lvl up a lvl 1 pet. Their attacks are usually pretty weak and wont kill my pet and they mostly just start with Apocalypse which does no damage whatsoever. Then I use my flayer youngling for choping up their team and 1.5 minutes later I have a new lvl 5 pet.
