Hoarding Pet Charms

Post by Lynw28 » April 27th, 2016, 3:36 pm

I am collecting my charms and wondering if there is any point, with Legion coming up. I have enough pets to defeat the Celestials (have got 2 of the pets, can't face any more) and I feel I would be upgrading pets for the sake of it.
Do we know if they will still be useable in Legion against the new pets? If so I will make the effort to work out how many I will need and work towards that. I only have around 1600 charms but I have a full stable of level 100's (can't bring myself to fill another realm just yet) and so I can build them up at the rate of 88+ per day, plus any others I do.
What do you think?

Short answer: We don't know yet what currency will be used in Legion.

Longer answer: For now, Pet Charms is still the currency used to purchase battlestones, pet treats, and even the new pets in Legion. But this could change at any time between now and the expansion's release.

Personally, I'm only casually collecting the charms these days. I'm not going out of my way to complete every daily; if there's a Menagerie battle that I find fun/interesting/quick I'll do it.

But other than that, I've slowed down my hoarding and will wait and see what updates, if any, there are for Pet Charms.

This is my approach too. Usually only when I can howl-bomb the daily quickly on a few chars. :)

I'm not playing much recently, but I still login and do the occasional pet battle. I figure whatever I have saved up for Legion is just bonus. I just want to have enough charms and stones to make all the new Legion pets blue. I figure I can enjoy the leveling of the Legion pets as new content. Lots of ways to level, but stones to make a pet blue are more rare for me.

I'm casually collecting as well. I'm trying not to rush pet battles too much and burn myself out. But by the time it rolls around I'm sure I'll have a little stash.

My approach is as simple as my bag space: Keeping them up to 1k, spending the rest on the pets/blue stones/Pet Treats.

I've still been doing menagerie + Erris dailies and Ashlei most of the time, but won't get to another place unless I've another business there or feel an urge to get just these two charms for a next Pet Treat.

As a side note: To collect all 6 new vendor pets and the new toy (Narcissa's Mirror), the current total needed for Legion is 1700 Pet Charms.

Keep in mind that this price and/or currency may not be final and is subject to change. Just a specific number if anyone is looking for a value to aim for, for the time being.

I ended up doing the daily quest on every char I had with menagerie and resolved to do only the 'quick' fights like Quintessence, Stitch, Elenore and of course Squirt when they were up and skip the rest until I earned that pet battle monument. Once I had that I was so awfully sick of pet battles I just couldn't anymore. Also I was just short of 6000 pet charms so wasn't exactly worried. So if you don't mind losing a whole lot of sanity that works out quite well. It is a very nice monument though, and I think I may recover enough by August to do pet battles again in Legion.

They may keep pet charms as the currency but 'reset' everyone to zero for Legion with a conversion to currency (like they do for PVP Seasons).

Just a thought.

I'm currently sitting on around 2500 Charms as I figure that will be more than enough for the new pets/toys assuming Charms are staying and they don't bump up the 1700 cost mentioned above too much.

The only battles I am doing right now is the weekly for 10 level stones as these will always be useful IMO.
