Am I missing something or...

Post by Abashera » October 12th, 2013, 8:04 am

I was reading some battle tips here, and one person said that when fighting Major Paine, use a Darkshore Cub. The person recommends: When his bear Bashes, you Bash. When his bear Hibernates, you Hibernate. Did this person ever try this out before posting, or is it a troll comment?

(1st off, you can't bash in return if you've been bashed.)

But as far as I can see you can't Bash and Hibernate, because you can only choose three abilities before you go into battle, and Bash and Hibernate are on the same tier.

. . .Or am I missing something? Can you switch in the middle of battle? I tried when I was a noob, and it wouldn't work, and I tried again when I read that suggestion, and it still won't allow me to switch abilities.

No, you can't switch abilities in the middle of a battle. And every creature that has bash/hibernate has them on the same slot, so no player pet can do both (as you surmised). So whoever posted that had not a clue what they were doing. Or, to give them the benefit of the doubt, maybe at one point in the past the 2 abilites were on different slots and his Darkshore Cub was faster? Really not seeing how that strat could be useful as you'd end up never winning the fight, you'd just drag it on forever.

That's possible. I swear the Infested Bear Cub had Bash and Hibernate on different slots at one time. I remember noting that it was the only bear that could do both abilities. Funny how Blizz doesn't want us to have those two abilities, no doubt because it would be mega OP; yet no problem giving same OP abilities to Payne.

What bugs me more about Payne is how HE will on occasion kill your last pet if he loses. I thought it was just me until I read someone else complaining about it. I killed his last pet and I had a little health left, and there were no DOTs on me, and Payne says "I will not be defeated" and my pet died.

But that's kinda off topic isn't it. :P

Not as off-topic as noting that we engage in the following dialogue with Goz Banefury, the Tamer in Twilight Highlands:

"Your world- all worlds- will burn!"

"Think you can take me in a pet battle? Let's fight!"

I used DM Tonk, Gome, ( mechs) good for first 2 pets and Civet for the last pet. Civet has a great dive move that can take health down pretty good on that last pet that does quite of bit of self- healing. Apparently it doesn't like water pets. Its almost the same combo I use for DM trainer except I use Fel flame instead of Civet. If you don't have a couple of Tonka toy tonks in your collection I highly recommend you pick up a couple.
