Collected Celestial Tournament Undercard Strategy

The "strategy 101" thread has gotten pretty difficult to find a strat for a given "undercard" tamer. So here are most of the teams that have been put forth for each tamer.

It's pretty clear that there are a wide range of successful strategies for each fight, putting to rest the complaint that you need very specific pets to win this thing.

Undercard 1:

[url=http://www.wowhead.com/pet-team#AgkFJcgKBR3ICwUdyA]Sully "Pickle" McLeary[/url]
---
-[pet]Darkmoon Monkey[/pet] (2,2,1)
-[pet]Imperial Eagle Chick[/pet] (1,2,2)
-[pet]Turkey[/pet] (2,2,1) (If you're feeling reckless, put a carry pet here)
---
-[pet]Feral Vermling[/pet]
-[pet]Stunted Yeti[/pet]
-[pet]Yellow Moth[/pet] (p/p)
---
-[pet]Imperial Eagle Chick[/pet] - Thrash , Lift-Off, Thrash, Adrenaline Rush, Thrash til he ascends. Thrash vs Monte (Lift-off after he dives, if you are still faster) til Eagle dies.
-[pet]Blue Clockwork Rocket Bot[/pet] [5-S/S] - Minefield, Missile til Monte dies (you are faster if S/S breed). Sticky grenade, Missile til Bot dies.
-[pet]Gilnean Raven[/pet]/[pet]Crow[/pet] - Call Darkness + Nocturnal Strike (Alpha Strike if needed due to dodges)
---
-[pet]Horned Lizard[/pet]
-[pet]Elder Python[/pet]
-[pet]Gilded Moth[/pet]
---

Well done, though you might as well add the Celestials to the list to keep it in one place. Bookmarked.

I sort of thought this thread already had strategy for the celestials themselves

Nice work!

With this Compilation, we can just form multiple teams and use them when one team loses due to RNG .

Cheers :)

This looks awesome..

I have a question that I'm pretty sure is silly, I'm probably just missing something totally obvious.. been a long week.. >.<

The first combo listed for each team (Feral Vermling/Stunted Yeti/Yellow Moth for Sully "Pickle" McLeary, for example) doesn't appear to have strategy details or chosen abilities (2/1/2 for example) listed with the pets, unlike the alternate team choices.. is this because they're just so obvious to most people, or is there something I'm missing?

Thanks for putting this together!! Huge help to someone returning from a WoW break and hoping to get caught up. :)

The list is just a cut/paste (initially) from all of the posts scattered throughout the forums. Not everyone posted the information the same way, so the OP had to take what he could get. If you consider the way they are written the 1st 3 opponents 1st 3 teams follow the same pattern - this is because they were copied from the 1st 3 posts found. :)

So not a silly question at all - honestly this is a great collection of possibilities but many of the listed teams (even with the abilities specified) may not be sufficient to win for some people without more details. Many times I dont use all 3 abilites of my pets, sometimes I only use 1! But at least, as someone else pointed out, if things go wrong you can refer to this post and see what other teams you might be able to slap together to win, rather than having to reset and start over.

Someone else (or maybe multiple someones) said they were putting together a guide for the tourney - hopefully they will use this post as part of it and perhaps test a couple teams for each "undercard" and list out the detailed strats. This post will still be useful, for those who don't have what's in the guide - but a step-by-step will make things smoother for many.

"She" :D

But yes, I did just cut/paste the teams, formatted them all the same, and hotlinked the pets.

I plan to update the list to at least include the abilities I think are used.

Work in progress!

Hey guys
I had started the celestial tourney 101 thread and it took a life of it's own. I love your post and hope it gains notice.I'll add a prompt for people to check out this thread in the celestial tourney 101 OPost

I always hoped this section of the site would get more use and I'm happy to see it thrive and be pertinent

Ooops!!! Sorry, I'm a presumptive id10t, I didn't even read the name on the OP.

And it's an excellent WIP, I might add - it gives people someplace to look that can really give them ideas of what can work, without having to mix and match at random and hope it's something good. :) Lots of us have already done that, so it's good that others will get to benefit from it.

RNG Proof list of mine for undercard 1.
Sully:
Chicken with Peck-Squawk-Egg Barrage
Spider with Strike-Brittle Webbing-Leech Life (Spiderling Swarm might perform better, didnt try)
Gilnean Raven with Alpha+Call+Noct

Egg Barrage on cd, Squawk to keep the debuff, peck otherwise. Chicken survives the first pet, squawk first on the rabbit, and an egg barrage to extend the debuff.
Open with brittle webbing, rabbit sorta kills itself. Leech life if its off cd afterwards, and strike if you believe the rabbit will die with it, and wont with leech life. Brittle web the last pet and spider dies.
Gilnean Raven is self explanatory. Quite good for budget as the first 2 sacrificial pets are easy to find.

Dr. Goldbloom
Lil Tarecgosa with Arcane Blast-Wild Magic-Arcane Explosion
Clockwerk Gnome with Fist, Repair, Turret
Spirit of Summer(Even uncommon is extremely good) or Fel Flame if you dont have it (Same skillset) with Flame Breath, Scorched Earth and Conflagrate

Open up with Arcane Exp. Since the pet flies up, it will do damage to backrow. Just keep arcane exp till it uses Feign Death, however use Arcane Blast if any of its abilities crit. Feign Death will swap for the beast pet, use wild magic on it and Tarecgosa wont die as its a speed up ability. Swap Tarecgosa out for Clockwerk Gnome since you will need it in the future.
Build Turrets and use fist when turret is off cd. You can sacrifice the gnome as you wont need it, just take care of the beast dude with those. It will die easily before your gnome does.
Switch to your elemental, use scorched earth and flame breath, the magic pet will die almost instantly. And your pet will take care of the flyer since its much faster and it was low on hp. Used this tactic and it worked 10/10 of the time.

On this part, heal your pets up with a pet with Inspiring song on Lorewalker since the owl will always open up with Wild Magic.

Lorewalker Cho:
Disgusting Oozeling with Ooze Touch, Corrosion and Expunge
Flayer Youngling(Green also works) with Blitz, Deflection, Kick
Spirit of Summer(Same skillset)

Owl: Corrosion, Expunge, Ooze Touch=Dead (If you think you are unlucky, skip expunge and spam Ooze Touch instead)
Broom: Your oozeling will survive the owl, use corrosion on the broom and oozeling will probably die on that part. Switch to Spirit of Summer. Same rotation as the Magic pet of Dr. Dragonkin abilities will annihilate and you wont take big damage since the broom has a humanoid ability.
Dragon: Dot it as much as you can with your spirit. You wont need it anywhere else. Switch to Flayer upon its death. If the dragon has the buff, use deflection, othervise open up with blitz. If the dragon ever gets a buff, kick it. On 5 of my tries, it didnt use the Solar Beam(Or whatever it was, just a hard hitting spell) on my flayer on 5 turns. If you feel like you will get one, just deflect it. My flayer almost had full hp when the dragonkin died.

Total Number of dead pets after passing the challengers: 5.

You can shorten the explanations or remove them or put them on a section saying budget list since not everyone can have a grasp on Darkmoon Stuff, or have time to camp heavily camped rares or such. Even greens worked.

This is a great idea, I will bookmark this topic since I got tired of browsing all the pages in the other topic to find the enemy trainers I was against.

Hi :)

Sorry if this is a stupid question but when it suggests 'Darkmoon Tonk or other burst ' - which other mech pets are considered to be bursty?

Thanks!

The other two most often used / referred to are the [pet]Tranquil Mechanical Yeti[/pet] (Call Lightning / Ion Cannon) and [pet]Menagerie Custodian[/pet] (Shock & Awe / Ion Cannon). They (combined with the Darkmoon Tonk) are the only ones with a high damage mechanical attack + Ion Cannon.

Great idea and thanks for the effort.

There are obviously many ways to do each tamer. I have found that knowing (or having a cheat sheet to tell you) what pet attacks types are strong against the tamers pets makes the approach to these fights pretty simple, as long as you have good numbers of max level pets to support some trial and error. Try and save the real strong or key pets for the Celestials.

The right pet with strong attacks and some form of avoidance and/or heals is fine.

It would be good if they got some more achievements attached to this tournament, such as keeping every pet alive for the whole thing or keeping the total number of rounds used to less than "x "would be good and really get the creative min-maxing going.

Once people get the hang of it, it will become really grindy and I at the moment I can't see myself going back once I have all the pet rewards.

That's fair, but my thread isn't asking for strats (like the OP in the one I responded to.)

Yes, I could have compiled this list in the "main" thread, but I wanted easy bookmarking (not: "see pg 10 for compilation!")

I hope the theory-crafting will stay in the "101" thread, and successful teams collected here for quick reference ;)

Maybe "strong mechanical" would have been better wording. It just means your "strongest" mech. Explode guys count, Son of Animus and Pocket Reaver both hit pretty hard too.
