I'm guessing that even with 200 level 25s, I wasn't ready for 5.4 :(

I've tried so many combos for Lil' Oondasta. What has worked for you?

I got it done with Menagerie Custodian, Darkmoon Zeppelin, Mechanical Dragonling. Although the Dragonling only needed one last hit to get Lil Oondasta down so probably any third mechanical.

The setup I think I used for him was:
Chrominius - Howl - Surge of Power (chrom dies)
Darkmoon Tonk - Shock & Awe - Ion Cannon (tonk dies twice while recovering)
Tranquil Mechanical Yeti - Call Lightning - Ion Cannon

The thing to watch for is he will pretty much 2-shot all of your pets, almost guaranteed, so you have to kill him with 2 hits per pet (and if you miss, it'll be a loss, probably).

I need to re-run the fight as I am not positive I used the moves above, but it's a starting point for you.

I found him to be unexpectedly easy. My standard "kill legendary beasts" daily team of Mechanical Yeti + Pet Bombling + Menagerie Custodian killed him without problem.

I did him with a Tonk, Direhorn (with more hps than third pet) and Custodian if I recall.

Open with Ion Cannon from the Tonk. Lil' Oondasta will helpfully swap him to the back row for you and bring in your Direhorn. Use trample until the round when he will kill your direhorn (tramples 10% dmg isn't reduced by the 50% buff) then use stamped to get the 100% dmg debuff on him. Swap back to tonk or to the custodian and blow him up with Shock and Awe/Ion Cannon.

The tricks are that % health based attacks like Tamples extra 10% or even a Dark Moon's Zeps explode aren't modified by buffs/debuffs and that the 100% debuff is additive with the 50% buff. IE the 1000 dmg ion cannon goes down to 500 because of the buff but then goes up to 1500 when the debuff is added.

I got him with 2 Menagerie Custodian (breeds H/H and H/P) and a Son of Animus. I tried using a Clockwork Gnome, but he is just too fragile.

I started with zep to negate the swap with decoy and finished him off with tonk and cogblade raptor

I wish completing the quest gave a pet XP treat :( I'm so tired of doing BoF for them.

I don't see why you'd bother with decoying the swap when you can use it to your advantage. It's perfect for using Ion Cannon from the tonk and letting him swap it out while he's recovering. It is also weak against mechanical so you don't take as much dmg.

I used Lil' bad wolf and two Sons of Animus. Start with wolf Dodge then Howl then two Claw took about half his health. Finished him with two sons.

I see that Son of Animus is the key to winning a lot of fights. I can't even get one! :(

I've spent all afternoon leveling, I'm off to try Lil' Oondasta again!

Okay I used Chrominus's Howl, every time it swapped to Menagerie Custodian in which I used Shock and Awe, and then Zap (which hits hard too). Then when that dies, Pet Bombling's Zap until it's dead. Took me 5 tries and stubbornness but I got it.

He missed every single time during my 2nd pet's 3rd attack. It was strange.

Couple thoughts.

1) make sure you use the Ion Cannon on round you should die and come back on the Menagerie Custodian.

2) use the Pet Bombling use explode on that final round too. It's damage isn't reduced by the 50% damage reduction debuff so should hit for 650

That should be more than plenty to finish him and chromi should still be alive to win.

I just used sunreaver (anything with lightning storm would work), clockwork gnome(as 2nd!), any mech.
lightning storm>he switches gnome in, turret, punch, punch, turret, both die, 3rd pet is just backup.

Yeah, me neither. You have no idea how mad I was when I read the early patch notes for 5.4 and learned that all the bonus rolls (and extra runs with only bonus rolls) were a complete waste.

This was my strat also, with the Menagerie Custodian mopping up with Shock and Awe.

I went with Yeti (lightning first round), then Zepplin (decoy round 2, then bomb, then missile til dead), then yeti again for an attack or two and finish with the tonk. I can probably optimize it better, but this works well enough.

how'd you get two attacks on your first pet? he uses the pet swap first move every time.

Tonight I used the Darkmoon Tonk, Menagerie Custodian, Clockwork Gnome.

Before popping the Ion Cannon, I used Shock and Awe. That put a little extra damage and then stunned him for the Ion Cannon. I did the same with the Custodian, and built turrets whenever the Gnome was out.

By juggling the stuns/cannons, he went down.
