Anyone able to math out these slimes?

Postby Luciandk » May 25th, 2013, 3:26 pm

We have a Jade Oozeling breed 4 using Corrosion and Expunge vs a base breed 8 Living Fluid using Acidic Goo and Expunge. What one will come ahead?

I noticed that Living Fluid is the only slime able to take Acidic Goo and Expunge. Slimes normally having both in slot 3.
Im mostly curious if the Acidic Goo together with Expunge can make up for a far stronger Jade Ooze, but whom have to use Corrosion instead.

Additionally, what does it look like when the Living Fluid uses Evolution instead?

I used to look dubiously at the Living Fluid due to its underwhelming breed, until I noticed the abilities its packing. Viscous Horror have a better H/P breed, but comming with Plagued blood instead of Acidic Goo which dimininishes its damage potential. According to Battle Pet BreedId, Viscous Horror have 1546 hp, 289 attack and 260 speed. So it would have same values as Living Fluid that also have 289 attack

Corrosion is 10 base, 5 base per turn, and it adds 2 base to each attack (including its own DoT)--it ticks 3 times. Expunge is base 33 damage. Acidic Goo is 5 base damage and a blanket +25% to all damage, and it ticks 4 times. So

Expunge with Corrosion is 35*(power+20)
Expunge with Acidic Goo is 1.25*33*(power+20) = 41.25*(power+20)

Corrosion used to add 5 base damage to each attack, rather than 2, but either way Acidic Goo is better if you're using Expunge. Jade Ooze can take both Acidic Goo and Corrosion though, which used to be amazing but with the nerf but I'm not so sure so let's math that out too.

Acidic Goo + Expunge + Absorb + Absorb = (5 + 1.25*(33+5+10+5+10+5))(20+power) = 90*(20+power), with 25 of that 90 returned as healing.
Acidic Goo + Corrosion + Absorb + Absorb = (5+1.25*(10+5+2+5+2+10+2+5+2+5+2+10+2+5+2+5+2))(20+power) = 100*(20+power), with 30 of that 100 returned as healing.

So *if* you get to hit them 4 times in a row without being disrupted or dying, then Jade Ooze is still pretty amazing.

Here's Living Fluid

Evolution + Acidic Goo + Absorb + Absorb = (30 + 1.25*(5+1.25(10+5+10+5)))(20+power) = 83.125*(20+power), with 31.25 returned as healing.
Evolution + Corrosion + Absorb + Absorb = (30 + 1.25*(10+5+2+10+2+5+2+10+2+5+2))(20+power) = 98.75*(20+power), with 30 returned as healing.

And your conclusion on the performance of both slimes?

Jade Ooze is a powerhouse when the opponent doesn't swap or disrupt your attacks, but it depends entirely on Absorbing with debuffs up and is hence very inflexible. Expunge is pretty terrible: 33 base damage, 28 expected damage due to the 85% accuracy, and it's a 3 turn cooldown. So I'd run Jade Ooze with Absorb/Corrosion/Acidic Goo as a DoTter, and if I wanted more flexibility and access to a nuke, then I'd take one of the new slimes instead.

Evolution is an incredibly strong stand-alone move, so Fluid is going to be pretty good, and it almost doesn't matter what other abilities you pick. Personally I really like Plagued Blood (hits for 16 base, the debuff heals the attacker for 4 base on each hit), but I'd probably pick Corrosion in that slot for either the Fluid or the Horror, so it would come down to breed or availability.

So corrosion wins over acidic goo when combined with evolution?

It's not really dependent on Evolution--it depends on the size of the hits and the rotation you use. Acidic Goo is 25%, Corrosion is a flat 2 damage (base). The break-even point is 8 base damage: if you're hitting for less, then Corrosion is better. Since oozes pack a lot of their damage into DoTs with base 5 damage, Corrosion tends to be better for them. And Corrosion is also just better on its own, it's 10 up front plus 3 ticks of 7; Acidic Goo is 4 ticks of 6.25.

Ive aquired a Living Fluid and is in the process of leveling it. I want to see how Evolution performs.

If you run Acidic Goo, I would aim to have Goo up when you Evolution, as it will benefit the most from the percent-based buff (as opposed to the additive Corrosion buff).

Thats what I thought. Dots benefit more from Corrossion, due to the low damage per tick. Whereas heavy hitters benefit more from +%damage

Having aquired a Viscous Horror I leveled it to 25 to try it out.

My observations Theres a pretty nice base damage on Plagued Blood, but its not really a move you spam. Plus you have no multihit attacks to really milk it. Getting terribly little healing yield from it with single target attacks

Corrosion and Evolution on the other hand seems to conspire together for some really juicy Absorbs. Which both of the anima slimes can pull off. Though if I understood it right, Living Fluid might be better served with Ooze Touch, Acidic Goo and Evolution. Going AG, Ev, OT, OT, OT to both boost Ev with AG and pump the OT with both damage buffs.
