Leveling Pets (except Tamers)

Hi there,

i tried to find some info on this, but really can't find answers in this forum. If there is already a thread on this, please just like it.

Would you tell us your fastest leveling strategies on normal pet battles? The Tamers are pretty fast done each day and give max 5225 exp each. That's not much if you want to level all pets to 25. Which pets do you use for fast powerleveling your lowbies?
Fastest i found was Flayer vs. Valley of the Four Winds. But there surely must be fast ways.

I find a spot close to an inn, like the tree in hyjal, and just do laps. Usually if I'm looking to update my pets or looking for specific stones.

Haven't really bothered about leveling that much through wild pet battles, but last I did it to get the last few xp on my lvl 24's, here is what I did:

Kun-lai summit (lots of critters and beasts, especially if you find a tolai hare / hare pup family toiling around).
Used these pets:
- Flayer youngling [4] vs critters (triple snap, reflection, rampage)
- Darkmoon tonk vs beasts (missile, shock and awe, ion cannon). Particularly rewarding when the last pet is a beast and to oneshot it :)

Of course have the safari hat on.

I still prefer doing tamer dailies as to not get totally burned out. But that strategy is a pretty decent one. Bear in mind that the level range in Kun-lai is 23-25. To ensure highets possible level on enemy pets for xp purposes, try vale of eternal blossoms (level range 24-25). Loads and loads of aquatic pets there. I suppose a Gilnean raven [8], Yellow moth [4] or an Effervescent glowfly [10] should serve you well there. A proto drake whelpling [4] for any fliers + its awesome self heal could perhaps be a backup pet.

For pets above level 10, I find Heartlands (I think it's called) to be great. Mobs around that area are either critters or aquatic, so a spider (1/2/1) and a seagull (1/1/2) are all that's needed.

I usually start with the spider, in case the first attack is a nasty poison one that could kill your levelling pet. Once it's "safe" to bring in the levelling pet, pop him in for as round or 2 until it either gets damaged, or performs a successful attack.

For critter, brittle webbing, life leech, strike when leech on CD,
For aquatic, slicing wind, lift off if they dive (or have no dive-like ability)

Quick easy levelling :-)

I level my pets around the pools in front of Mogu'shan Palace at the Vale of Eternal Blossoms. Your opponents would be Aquatic pets mostly, with the occasional Flying pets. They are level 24-25. I would use my Yellow Moth (P/P) to defeat the 3 opponents and a Fluxfire Feline as backup.

I use PetBattle Teams to define four teams. Each team has one level 25 pet with beast attacks, one level 25 with flying attacks, and the pet I'm leveling (can be the same baby pet on all four teams or four babies, depending on my mood). Then I go to the Valley of the Four Winds, where every wild pet is either a critter or an aquatic. The zone is crawling with pets, and there are very few aggressive mobs to get in the way. Fight a battle (sending in the baby for the first round, then swapping in a 25), then after switch to the next team. Fight, switch. By the time you've cycled through all four teams, the cooldown on Revive Pets should be up, so you can heal everyone and start again.

I won't say that this is the most exciting way to play, but in terms of XP / hour, it's pretty hard to beat.

I've been power leveling my pets using the Dragonbone Hatchling method. Using the stable master at the base of Wyrmrest, and the nearby dragon bones I let me low level go first, then switch out quick an kill the 3 wild pets with a strong 25 who can handle any of the wild pets that might come with the Dragonbone Hatchling.

With that method I can get 1 level a battle till about 15. Good Luck!

Credit goes to the youtube video I saw on doing this power leveling.

how should that be possible in a normal fight? a level one should be six after a level ~23 fight.

my problem is switching pets in a fight. it wastes one round. i'd rather find groups of the same type. (like 3x critter in valley of the four winds). using 4 groups in valley is useless. just take a flayer, he almost never needs to heal. at least a h/h one with 1.7k hp. switching our on aquatic is also pretty useless, since he kills them with 3 hits anyway.

so do you know any other fights with three times the same type and lots of fights on a small area?

This is what I've been doing for my pets after grinding out a few 21-25's. I just used the Dragonbone Hatchling (H/H, although iI do have P/P). Start with the baby, and then swap in the flying and just beat the pets. The baby pet was getting 900-950xp per battle. You're also right next to a stable master, so you never have to worry about the cooldown.

I plan on doing this until I have enough pets high enough where I can start farming the masters.

He meant one battle per level I believe. A dragonkin like Ony Whelp or Emerald Proto can solo the dragonbone teams easy. The battles in Vale are all soloable by a good flyer or dragon as well.

Wild pets below Dalaran in the Crystalsong forest are all critters, no exception, and are lvl 22-23 if memory serves.

Made a quick guide the other day on pet leveling when I was updating my team - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z-P4fIjeqZ4

Basically just goes over using dragonwaste and the vale to power level pets.
