I've started noting down XP details for the pet trainers and have found a few times the Safari Hat doesn't seem to be registering the 10% bonus XP. Each time I'm using just the Safari Hat (no extras).

For example, with the Flowing Pandaren Spirit, yesterday with a Level 14 pet I got 5060XP, and today with a Level 14 pet I got 4600XP. Both times I had the hat on. Has this happened for anyone else?

I can't say I've ever had a problem with that and while I don't pay attention to the specific experience on each battle I do have enough of a system that I use for leveling pets that I would notice if I was missing exp from a battle. You aren't trying to equip the hat after the battle started right? That won't work because it is snapshotted at the start of the fight which is handy when the food buff is about to expire.

Oh, that might be it! I assumed it was snapshotted at the end.

Yea, I know I've had a few battles where I forgot to put my hat on, and put it on during the battle, and that won't work.

Try the "auto safari hat" addon... it's not perfect (it often doesn't put my normal helm back after) but it almost always works in putting my safari hat on at least.

Yea, I stopped using it because I was having the other problem. It would occasionally not put my safari hat on, but it ALWAYS took it off.

I spent many months gathering pet XP data for my reference guide. I can safely say I never once saw the hat not work. It has always provided XP for me. As mentioned above, if you put it on after the fight starts it doesn't count. Has to be on before the fight starts.

The addon on auto safari hat used to always work, but now it doesn't a lot of the time.
I don't know if this is just me but it will put the hat on when I first click into battle but on e the battle screen comes on it will switch back to whatever head piece I was wearing.
Does auto safari hat still work for boosted xp if I switch back to it before any attacks have happened?
This is what I do when notice it has been switched on me.
Or does it mean I have to get rid of auto safari hat addon?
It worked so well for so long and I have gotten use to not needing to remember to put my safari hat on.
Thank god I am only leveling duplicates now and got thru leveling all my pets.

Wow, this one was news to me. I do this all the time...

Good to know I guess. I'll have to be better at remembering, as addons to equip gear never seem to work for me. I got one that's supposed to equip my forager's gloves but all it does is give me an error message every time I log in.
