Mr. Grubbs fails the mature language filter

Post by Hellomynameis » November 15th, 2012, 4:55 am

I am sure others have tried to name their pets something with "Mr" in the name. I did, and after some trials and errors, I noticed it wasnt the name itself that was the mature language filter error, it was "Mr". I am at a loss for words, we can't write "mr"? in what language is that a bad word? I did manage to utilize "Ms" instead though, so its not all bad. ..but still, really weird bug/filter/error/mistake there.

Nah, Blizzard don't allow titles. Not sure why.

Arve,

It's not just an obscenity filter. The pet naming rules are the regular naming rules, and they don't allow you to include a title as part of a name. So you can't have a mister or a miss, a princess or a king, a general or a captain, etc. I guess they didn't want people pretending to have PvP titles they didn't earn, and such, when they originally wrote the name rules. This is pretty silly for pets, though, since a lot of popular pet names are titles, like Lady and Duke.

This struck me as pretty stupid too. Apparently it's OK for Blizzard to name a pet Mr. Grubbs or Mr. Wiggles, but not OK if a player does it.

Not exactly, since you can use space there are differences. But ye, I see what you mean, the wow error it throws up are the mature language filter, but I guess they just scrambled alot into that filter to make it easier. :)

I think it's the same with hunter pets, you can have a space or at least a capitol letter in the middle, but otherwise the rules are just like character names.

I had a similar experience with the Adder. I wanted to name my Adder "Black" after the British TV series Blackadder but it says that word is offensive and not allowed.
