Been gifted several pets by a guildie. My best deal though was yesterday. 2 tiny green carp for 100g each. Listed one for 2499 and learned the other.

Not too long ago i paid 2000g for a Spineclaw Crab. Got it leveled and then one dropped for me As always after purchases ;D

I just found an uncommon P/S Gilnean Raven for 5 gold on the auction house and immediately bought it

A trio of good deals this evening:

[pet]Death Adder Hatchling[/pet] (S/S) - 499g
[pet]Ruby Dropling[/pet] - 1,600g

There have been a mess of pets I've picked up much below their real value, but the ones that stand out the most are from vanilla:

Hyacinth Macaw 1g50s
Dark Whelpling 100g
Azure Whelpling 150g
Disgusting Oozeling 300g

The Hyacinth was the pet I wanted the most back in vanilla, so I was unbelievably excited! I didn't even find it on the auction house. I had put in trade chat "WTB Hyacinth Macaw". Someone messaged me and said he'd sell me the one he found for 1gold 50silver - so win!

Not auction house, and no one get mad at me for this, but...

I got my VH for free from a guildie who knew I collected.

You're right. No one could EVER be jealous of that!

Now, I realize this will not sound like a deal but I got the Hyjal bear for 1.5k on the AH today. So happy. I hate rep farming and I really didn't like the dailies in Cata particularly, so I never even tried but now I have it! Yay!

More on topic, I tend to get most of my best via bidding rather than buyouts. For some reason, most people on my server just don't care I guess. I've only had two pets that I was outbidded by and one of those I'd expected to be so it's been good AH hunting for me. I got two or three of those dragons for around 500 each (not the proto but the other ones.)

After hours and hours of farming on six different toons for months and STILL no Black Tabby? I found an unlearned one on the AH for 250g. Yay

Way, way back when I was levelling my warlock gnome (this was in 2006, I believe), I found a Hyacinth Macaw on the AH listed for 1G50S. Somebody didn't know what they had. I let my little gnome learn it because she didn't have any pets yet. I didn't realize at the time what a big deal pet collecting would become and lamented that pet being on an alt when the bulk of my collection was elsewhere. It turned out just fine, though!

Then recently, I bought a Crimson Whelpling for 100g.

Just nabbed a Black Tabby carrier for 15g.

I just bought two s/s death adders for a buyout of 450 gold each. I will have to stone them, but I am quite happy with that.

I've made some pretty good deals on AH but those are the ones I remember the best. Especially that Rotten Little Helper which I bought as unlearned when Winter Veil was still on. Now I've seen them on Horde AH (Stormrage EU) for about 10k gold.

I found an S/S GIlnean Raven for 10g on some random server using Undermine Journal. I guess whoever listed it had no idea about the discontinued breeds and the high value of an S/S Raven.

Got a Darkmoon Rabbit for 10 gold, Lil Bad Wolf for 5 silver, Landro's Lil' XT for 20 gold, and Hyacinth Macaw for 10 gold... that was my lucky day

Not exactly AH, but I got my Disgusting Oozeling after less than 200 ooze kills.
[Ashstone Core]- 93 gold (this was back when patch 5.2 first came out)
[Giant Sewer Rat]- 500 gold. (I fished A LOT for that pet)

I found an s/s breed (uncommon-but who cares?) Gilnean Raven for 500g a week ago ..pretty happy about that
