I'm loving Li'l XT and the Proto Drake Hatchling for the mechanical and dragonkin families respectively. They hit like a truck, and XT can heal himself even though it takes three rounds. For aquatic, the only one I've used so far is Sea Pony, and while it was great at first, it's rapidly starting to pale in comparison to the other two. It doesn't take damage very well at all, and its hits are starting to lose some oomph at level 15.

For critter, I have to go with the Winter Reindeer as my personal favorite. Two self-heals, one of which heals your in-reserve party too, and an attack that does a pretty decent amount of damage? There's almost no down-time between battles with this thing. With the Sea Pony, I'm constantly having to blow my heal pets cooldown or find a stable master after every fight.

Personally I love my Dark Whelpling for Dragonkin, but most of the rare dragons are pretty powerful. For Elemental though, I am all about the Phoenix Hatchling, you pop immolation, causing damage every time they attack, and then heal yourself, drawing it out and doing nice damage. I am very torn about the mechanical class though, literally all of them have a solid counter with the exception of one.

I am not an expert but starting out it appears to be good to have a mechanical pet versus the critters near Orgrimmar. My Magical Crawdad is quite awesome. It comes with a lot of HP and the second spell it gets heals for 3 rounds which is very useful. The Darkmoon Monkey is pretty funny because its 3rd spell rains bananas on the opponent.

For elementals I completely agree on the phoenix hatchling, he's not exactly devastating (unless against mechs) but is pretty good at outlasting stuff while immo helps grind it down.

For dragonkin, I'm quite liking the azure whelp even if just for how I use surge of power as a kamikaze attack ;) In the tamer fights, multiple times he's been my last pet alive while the tamer still has a pet in reserve. He gets the kill on the second pet (claw is great vs critters) and activates the dragonkin racial of +50% damage for the opening shot on the last pet then you hit surge of power and combined with the racial it can be a 1 shot. Even used in the same way when not your last pet but about to die, a suicide surge can tear a fresh opponent down to low health for the next pet to finish off.

I rather like my Crimson Whelpling. The Basic breath attack does decent damage, and fly is good for a finisher move or opening move. Then there is the healing move which heals for a base damage plus half of the last attack, which is nice.

Baby Blizzard Bear is my other fav; though you could probably use one of the other bears as a stand in if you dont have this one. he's got a high damage move that hits hard but has a 3 round CD and a basic bite attack that does a good amount of damage. at level 15 he also gets Hibernate, which heals slowly over three rounds, the amount healed increasing each round.

clockwork gnome for machanical. Its OP an was even a pet that got nerfed! You used to be able to put down a torret every 1 round. now its changed to two an you can only get two torrets out at a time insted of 3...

i also love the pandaren monk...such a strong humaniod an can 1shot any dragon. I have many other favorites but these two are by fare my strongest.

I haven't leveled many pets to 25 but my favorites so far are Lil' XT, I leveled him right with Clockwork Gnome and I always seemed to gravite more towards XT when I needed the win. My favorite humanoid so far would be Murkablo.

Perhaps I haven't looked around as much as I should, but it would be hard for me to not let the Aquatic- Strand Crawler see some light on thus topic. With the combo of Shell Shield and Refreshing Mists up, he makes a great tank, imo. Shell Shield blocks so many different DoT-type damage attacks, it's almost ridiculous. Things like: Scorching Earth, Nut Barrage, Immolation, Agony, Swarm/Stampede/Flock, Lightning Storm, and many others don't touch him except with initial DD-type damage. Add his HoT, and many of the abilities above will actually work against the opponent, rather than helping them....

For beast you can't go wrong with a spider. They dominate critters with Brittle Webbing at level 15 and Leech Life. I'm leveling my third to 25 because they're so easy.

For Dragonkin, I love my Lil' Deathwing, however I just got a rare Scourge Whelpling, and this healing is very, very useful.

Beast: Nightsaber cub, he's fast so hits hard, can mitigae damage, and heals himself with killing blows. He has been the easiest pet ever to lvl.

Flying: Pterrodax Hatchling, healing, avoidance, and she can whittle down the mobs. Love this pet!

Elemental: Fel Flame, lots of health and amazing move combos. I can't wait to get this guy to max lvv.

Mechanical: Lil XT, most people go for the heal but I chose heartbreaker where he takes 50% more damage then does 100% for 2 rounds. Couple that with his tantrum and it takes a big chunk out of every single pet on the enemy's team.

Humanoid: Monk, he has his weaknesses and is a one trick pony but that one trick hits very hard if you set it up right. With the right team set up this guy is very good. Not OP just very good on the right team.

Aquatic: I'm loving my Silfang Otter, he's really fast, does moderate damage, and can heal. Nice combo.
