Small update to Battle Pets just downloaded on PTR

Some cool stuff just out. That is on top of all the other cool stuff I can't wait for :)

Pandaren Spirit Pet Supplies now has a chance to drop a family specific rare Battle-Stone

A new achievement and reward has been added for characters that complete every Pet Battle daily quest in a single day.

Protection for bad luck streaks have been added to Battle-Stones from pet supplies bags and wild battles. Each bag or battle that does not provide a stone has a progressively better chance to award a stone to the player.

Do you think this would make it worth saving my bags to open after the patch?

Contents in bags is generated when you recieve them. It doesnt matter how long you save them.

So does the bad streak protection work from when you open a bag or when you receive a bag? (probably a silly question)

Most likely when you receive it.

I vaguely remember someone stating that they saved a number of bags, waiting for the day the patch hit that offered BOP family stones, and when they opened them, they received a number of stones.

This was from bags gained PRE-patch.

I might be wrong, but it's around these forums somewhere I'm sure...

When 5.1 hit, I opened ~80 bags that I had saved up prior to the patch. I got 6 battlestones from them. The Pandaren pet supply bags are a different item and it's possible they're coded to generate contents differently. But saving a few is a small risk. Just resist the urge to open them and see what's inside. I don't know whether the contents are generated upon opening, or whether the actual bag may change on patchday (ie your 5.2 pet supply bags may be replaced by 5.3 pet supply bags, even though the UI displays them as being identical).

*edit* adding a link to some evidence on wowhead (post 40, it's 2nd if you sort by relevance).

It depends on how they implement it. When, I think it was lumpy rather than some other pet, was added to the Christmas stuff a few years ago the bags didn't have a 'requires winter's veil' on them, so some people had the bags still when they were changed but before Winter's Veil. Because they didn't create new bags (new items with new item id's) when people opened those bags they checked for loot from their current table of drops and people had a chance at lumpy before they should have been able to get him. If the new bags have different id's however you can completely forget about any possibility of scoring battlestones out of old pet bags.

They may very well have fixed how it worked (in fact I'm pretty sure it was that incident that made them look at how that mechanic worked), but as I recall it was the patch that changed the content that forced a reroll for the loot bags back then. Still, considering how much those pandaren spirits have irked me at times and how little the pets sell for I don't think I've anything to lose to save up my pandaren spirit bags and not open them till patch just in case. Worst case, I'll still get the usual lint and bandages, best case I get some stones.

So happy about the bad luck streak breaker. I have had TERRIBLE luck when it comes to finding battle-stones out in the wild from battles.

Players with a high fishing skill have a chance to fish up new pets. The Pet Journal has clues on where these elusive pets could be found.
When was this in patch notes? It sounds similar to the way the tiny carps were announced.
I don't know of any new fishing pets in 5.3.

The break in bad-luck streaks is nice; hopefully you can net 1-2 stones a day for sure if you do all of the tamers that offer them. now if only they would do something about having stones you dont need and exchanging them for ones you do, then we'd be golden :D

Did a test today, instead of the usually 3 to 4 days without a stone, I am averaging about 1 every 4 or 5 fights now :)

Also, Flawless XX Battle-Stones are now Battle.net Account Bound :) woot woot.

New toys drop as trash items.. instead of Hair Balls, I have been getting Fetch Balls, you can play with your pets ;)

That's nice! I'm sick of the hair balls.

To the other poster who recalled seeing a post where someone saved the bags.... I recall that post as well. It is here in the forums somewhere. I remember thinking... "Wow, good for them, I don't have the patience to wait and horde bags. I can't resist opening them up!"

Maybe Mumpher will see this, a simple fix would have the stable masters allow us to trade a specific family rare stone for a stone that can upgrade any family to a rare but make it soulbound so no one can be selling/trading them. My luck/rng on stones is horrible and I still have many uncommons 50+ that need upgraded and am holding onto 7 undead stones in hopes they can be traded some day.

Getting more stones will be easier in 5.3, every bag or battle that doesnt yield a stone will have a increasing chance to give one.

Being able to exchange family specific stones would render then pointless. They may as well just be BoA generic stones :P

Perhaps a stone, plus a spirit of harmony, for the type you choose.

Better yet, a lesser charm... give those of us who don't raid some use for those other than a weekly quest that gives out 45 gold.

Or maybe something a bit more simple. Say, "x" number of stones... like say, a stack of 5... can be traded for a stone that you have a use for.
