Geez, take it easy. Second-class citizens? Hyperbole much?

Anyway looking at http://us.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/7200064720 on the WoW forums it seems that some people who have ticketed the problem have asked for flawless critter stones as a remedy and received them. For those who have uncommon hatchlings, try that.

I asked for either a stone or a new hatchling, but my ticket hasn't been responded to yet. I'll let yall know.

Aislinge wrote:I call BS on this and now I've had to go and lodge a ticket as well (I bought 2 on the first day). No one's going to want to buy Uncommon and certainly not for the price that they would have been worth!

I have spare tickets but it's certainly not the point. All they have done is taken the lazy way out. I'm kind of offended that for something that generates them so much money and game play, they continue to treat us like second class citizens.

Unless you actually code for Blizzard you have absolutely no way of knowing how hard it would be to change the rarity of an already learned pet. Saying it's lazy is just flat out wrong because you have no idea what would actually be involved or what kind of bugs might spring up.

I think if Blizz really considered us "second class citizens" we'd, 1) not have any kind of timely response to the problem or response at all, 2) they wouldn't have put the countless hours of development and work into a system for VANITY PETS. It's pretty clear to me that Blizz considers us, and mini pets in general, important because they went to all this effort to introduce a huge new system that has no impact on "actual" gameplay whatsoever purely for our enjoyment. Yes it has bugs, but every new system does and at least they're working to fix them. (I've played mmos that had the same bugs persist for literal years.)

Also, getting down on the GMs is really unfair because they're extremely limited in what they are allowed to do and, sometimes, even in their knowledge base.

Well, hopefully someone will get a GM response so we will know if that works or not. Really upsetting about having to spend another 90 tickets.

Just a small update on this from Mumper:

"We know Darkmoon Hatchling situation sucks. We are looking into some ideas on what we can do. Stay tuned."

This isn't a guarantee they can assist everyone or that they will, but they're trying to work something out.

In the meantime, I suggest ticketing a GM and requesting for a new hatchling, a flawless battle-stone (critter or non-family specific), or for a refund of tickets. If you ask for the tickets but the faire ends before they can get to your request, then change it to one of the other two.

Strange coincidence that you use that phrase there.

I got my reply back this morning with the usual nonsense, and the GM advised me to submit a bug report instead.

I actually put "pet battlers = second class citizens" as part of my survey feedback.

I then find it very ironic that I read the summary on Cory Stockton's interview that Blizzard are happy with pet battles.

Are they? Are they happy enough with it that they're going to fix all the bloody bugs, like Darkmoon Hatchling, abilities being active for far longer than they should be, e.g. Undead immortality, shields, etc.

I'm glad they're happy. I'm bloody not.

Arve,
un-alt.

I'm an avid pet collector. Coming up on 500 pets. Have spent 100k gold on pets since Mists. Have spent a couple hundred real dollers on pets over the years.

Darkmoon tickets are easy to come by. I'll have two in my stable and one will be increasingly rare and it won't be the blue one. Someday you'll be able to say "I have an uncommon Darkmoon Hatchling...top that." A pet that is only available 1 day in the history of WoW. I can see the Uncommon Darkmoon Hatchling as becoming one of the rarest pets in the game.

So...all of you...upgrade your Hatchlings...please. It's just making my "Uncommon" all that much more unique. :)

My only question...if I have a Darkmoon Hatchling egg in my bag from buying it on day one will that egg teach the rare or uncommon version?

Good luck to you all who wish to upgrade/replace your hatchling but please, go easy on GM's and Blizzard. They're only human and unless you've never made a mistake that affected someone else watch out where you throw those stone.

I love the critter upgrade stone as a solution. Of course, I'd use it on something else and buy a new Hatchling with tickets! :)

I left a ticket because of this matter and to my surprise, I found a Flawless Battle-Stone from my mail. \o/

A GM has first denied my request saying they can only restore gold and items but soon afterwards he contacted me via chat and said he had erred a bit and that he had sent the stone to my mail.

I'm with you on this. I'm happy to have both qualities in my journal because someday I can look back and be all, "Yeah, super rare!"

Theaah,
You run the risk of them doing an after thought fix to it anyway and changing it to Rare quality. Of course either way you wouldn't need to put in a ticket but just pointing it out.

Unfortunately the GM I got responded while I was not online and just said that he could not help and that it was not their policy to give a stone or anything else to upgrade the uncommon hatchling.

Pissed right off now.

I'm sorry if people think I over react about MY OPINION about being a second class citizen however, we are the ones that just dropped another $10 this week without blinking on a new pet and spend in excess of base monthly game subs. Sure, that's our choice, but that makes us a lucrative source of income and one that is rather easy to manage when compared to Arena or PvP or Raiders.

Now, don't read into my getting cranky on these forums as me getting shirty with GMs. I've been in Customer Relations too long to know how the game is played and to understand that to get the most out of the poor fellow about to get my email, you have to a) be nice b) give options and c) only ask for things when there's really no other option (constant begging is always frowned upon.

What I actually asked for was my Darkmoon Hatchlings to be deleted and my 180 tickets to be refunded so I could repurchase the pets if that was possible. I was very nice and polite about it :D

This was my response from the GM:

Greetings Aislinge,

Thank you for contacting the World of Warcraft Game Master Department. I apologize for the wait and that I was not able to contact you online.

Unfortunately, we are unable to provide a refund for the Darkmoon pets since they can be caged and traded to other players. With that in mind, I've sent you two Flawless Battle-Stones so you can upgrade both of your Hatchlings. This is sort of a special exception to our normal policy since we changed the rarity of the pets so shortly after adding them to the game. That's totally our fault, and I apologize for the inconvenience. The 2 Flawless stones are sitting in your mailbox waiting for you. =)

If you have any questions, or would like to talk with us more about this issue, please hit "Need More Help" below. Thank you again for playing World of Warcraft and I hope you continue to enjoy your experience with Blizzard Entertainment!

Sincerely,

Game Master

So, I'm happy with this. It gives me the option to actually upgrade any pet I like really and compensates me for the mess.

Nice. I just got told to submit a bloody bug report.

AND THEN I found out they have done the same thing with the Red cricket, but just didn't tell anyone about it.

Doubly fecked off, although my lass has offered me her next rare when/if she gets one from Sho. Lovely girlfriend.

Still. She shouldn't have to.

Arve,
twink alt, twink alt, little alt.

p.s. and I suspect that my tickets have been less nice, so yeah I'll get bugger all. Awesome innit?
