Dragon Kite breeds -- where are the BBs?

Postby Poofah » June 4th, 2014, 10:42 am

Dragon Kite comes in SS and BB. But for whatever reason, there are very few BB. On US server AHs, there are 100+ SS currently, and only 5 BB. EU is even weirder, there's literally only 1 BB as I type this, but there's 400+ SS. I know certain pets had their breeds consolidated, such as Gilnean Raven, but Dragon Kite was not listed among those (patch notes link).

Does anybody know what's going on with this?

That's a very good question... for a while I didn't even know there was a 2nd breed, I thought S/S was the only one (and I've bought and resold quite a number of kites thanks to the BMAH). Actually I'm wondering if that has something to do with it... is it possible the BMAH only has S/S available and that's why it's the common breed? Not to mention the suspected duping... if S/S kites are the ones that are being "copied" then that would skew the ratio even more.

My guess would be that the Kite only comes in s/s now. Maybe it was a stealth change when the other pets were changed or maybe it was some time before then but I think that is the simplest explanation.

That is very possible. Although, the BMAH sells you the unlearned pet, as far as I remember -- it doesn't get a breed until you learn it. So I assumed that BMAH would give both types, but I can't back that up with evidence, so this could be part of it.

Also totally possible. And kind of depressing, because if this skewing is the result of SS duping, then virtually all Dragon Kites on AHs are dupes.....

This would definitely explain it, but I don't see why they'd announce the breed changes for Gilnean Raven/Kaliri/etc and not announce this one.

It could be they simply missed it on accident. After all it's not uncommon to have undocumented changes in patches. It could also be that it was some time well before that and they did announce it but no one noticed or remembered. It's also entirely possible they chose not to announce it because it is a relatively rare thing compared to the others and they were keeping the better breed.
