Arena Pass 2013 (US)

The Arena Pass registration is open and now is the time to start putting together your team for Murkimus.

From the official FAQ:

Players who participate in at least 50 rated Arena Pass games on one character and with the same team will be eligible to receive the Armored Murloc pet for their live characters. Notice it says participate, not win? Yeah, 50 matches. You can do that with your eyes closed.

Please Note: The characters that players use to qualify for the above prizes must play all of their qualifying games on the same team and must remain on that team for the duration of the Arena Pass. If a player leaves their team at any time, it may void their eligibility by resetting the required number of games played. The live characters that players wish to receive the in-game prizes must be on the same account as the one registered for the Arena Pass. TL:DR version: All 50 games must be played with the same team in a 3v3 format.

Interested in getting your own Murkimus this year with fellow pet lovers? Feel free to put your name in this post to team up with others. You get a premade character of whatever class you want, so feel free to go triple Monk team with Whirlwind spam. You won't win, but that counts as trying in our book!

Please note, if you're hardcore interested in PvP and are planning to go for the Vanquisher title, this is probably not the thread for you. This is the slow lane to Murkimus, the scenic route, the relaxation road. I struggled through this when it was 200 games way back in the day and one of my partners was way too into PvP and it wasn't fun. Plus it was uphill both ways, you couldn't equip shoes or trinkets, and all abilities were replaced with Divine Shield. (The previous sentence is not true!)

So sign up, meet some new friends and get yourself that pet you've been putting off for years because PvP is painful and you didn't know you didn't need to win.

You can pick days and soon even time frames to try to find a team that fits your play time at this new forum!

OK, so I have to pay 20 bucks, and convince two other people to also pay 20 bucks, and then make sure to coordinate enough of our time so that we can participate in 50 fights where I'm almost assuredly going to lose approximately 43 of them?

Thank goodness for this forum.

Also interested, I'm a night worker, tho, so my playing time would normally be between 8am-12pm EST,but I can coordinate times on my nights off.

So, the datamined pink Murkimus-clone pet is a no-go? Sure it's another Murkimus this year as well?

I'm interested but had thought I wouldn't find anyone to team up with as I'm in Australia. I'm terrible at pvp but if anyone else who plays on Australian time is prepared to do this I'd love to join you.

I haven't done PVP in a long time but would be interested in giving this a go. I was reading over the requirements and it said you can have up to 6 players in your 3v3 team. Would be willing to help all other 5 players get a pet. They go quick usually so 50 battles shouldn't take more then few sessions.

I'm interested as well. I'm available from around 7 pm to 10:30 pm Eastern time on weeknights, and pretty much any time on weekends.

I've never tried arena teams before, but I'm willing to give it a shot.

So to ask my fellow pet collectors...

How hard is it to just slap together a team for 50 games and get the pet? Which is my only real interest. (And I know for a fact there are like-minded people here, which is why I ask.)

Each arena season I've always put it off and told myself, "Eh, I'll get it next time" but this year I think I'm finally gonna pull the trigger, because that pink Murkimus clone that got datamined has me very worried that Murkimus' days are numbered... and I might not get another chance.

Just for clarification: :) So is this the same exact Murkimus from previous years? The item you got in the mail was a bit different... "Murkimus' little spear" that teaches you Murkimus the Gladiator. I saw on wowhead that it's now Murkimus' Tyrannical Spear that teaches Murkimus Tyrannicus?

I don't think anyone knows 100% yet, but since no specific mention has been made of Tyrannicus, most people seem to be operating under the assumption that it's still vanilla Murkimus.

Personally I WANT it to still be Vanilla Murkimus because I will be VERY upset if they didn't give those of us who still don't have him one last opportunity to snatch him up in a post-pet battle MoP world. Seems unfair.

Ideally, I think the best solution would just be to award both pets for one transitional year, to appease both crowds, old and new.

I'd like to give this a try. I work later hours. Weeknights, I'm free 9pm Eastern until 1am. Saturday, 11am until 7pm, and Sunday 11am until 9pm. I can play a hunter or disc priest, although I've never PVP'd as a healer.

I'm game for some early morning (5 a.m. to 8 a.m. Central time) and possibly other times once the teams are set if needed.

Edit: Found a team

Hello!

This year I would like to try for this pet, I never tried arenas but I'm not as bad in pvp, anyway I only want the pet :)

I play on EU servers, and game time is around 17.00-01.00 CEST, sometimes I'm free an entire day, and the week-ends.

Thanks

RyƓ

It sounds very cool, but remember the requirements are 50 rated matches played in a 4 week window. That's a lot of matches, even if you don't last 5 minutes per match. Just sayin'. I'm interested though.
