Gold gift for RAF partner? legal

Trying to get the RAF pets. Anyone think it is illegal to offer a gold gift to the player once the pet has been awarded?

I can´t see how giving gold or gifts to the friend you recruited (and helped level) can be viewed as a bad thing.
