Darkmoon Prize Tickets

Summary
Darkmoon Faire pets cost 90 Darkmoon Prize Tickets each.
Need a total of 630 tickets to purchase all six companions.

Earning Tickets
• 5 Dailies (awards 1 ticket each) • 1 Account-wide Daily (awards 5 tickets) • 15 profession-based quests (may complete once per faire)
NOTE: The quests/items listed below require players have a Darkmoon Adventurer's Guide in their inventory. Speak with a Darkmoon Faire Greeter to obtain a guide.

• 1 misc quest (awards 10 tickets - may complete once per faire) • 9 Darkmoon Artifacts (may turn in each artifact only once per faire, but you may find multiple artifacts even if the faire is not in town so long as you have the Adventurer's Guide in your inventory)
For some extra info on which bosses are likely to drop certain artifacts, check out this Wowhead comment page.

Dungeon dropped artifacts may only be found in level-appropriate content. Dungeon and raid dropped artifacts can be sold and traded. Battleground artifacts may only be picked up by the player looting a slain opponent's corpse, but they can also be sold/traded.

• Extra Tickets
  • Surviving the Darkmoon Deathmatch and looting the chest will award 5 extra Darkmoon Prize Tickets. The chest spawns once every three hours, starting from midnight. Only one person may loot the chest.
Collecting the DMF Vendor Pets
Since pet collections are now account-wide, it's not necessary to acquire all 630 tickets on a single character. Utilizing alt characters to complete the dailies and other quests will speed up the process. Simply earn 90 tickets on multiple toons, and you will be able to add all of the pets to your collection in no time!

Feel free to provide additional information or note of any corrections that need to be made.

The 3 Battleground items are rather easy to loot, you get them from "skinning" the alliance that are killed (taking insignia), in my first battleground, i got 1 full set, and 2 extra of each of the other two, so if they are going for a lot on AH, it might be better to get them yourself. from what ive seen, 2 of them seem to be common, and the third one a bit more rare (sadly i dont remember what one), but still shouldnt take more than 2-3 BGs to get them all.

A Treatise on Strategy is a bit trickier to get tho, i myself did 15-20 heroic dungeons before i saw it drop, and from what i hear, that is about the average amount, it seems to only drop of certain bosses, but it also seems that it drops from atleast one boss in each of the original cataclysm heroics.

Ornate Weapon, Mysterious Grimoire, Monstrous Egg and Imbued Crystal is all rather easy to find, myself i did the 4.3 dungeons about 2 times each and got all 4, but i was the only one rolling on them, since i did it just in the start of the faire, so it might take a bit longer if you are unlucky and get in a group with a lot of people needing. They can also be looted from older dungeons, i havnt tried this myself, but some of my mates had succes doing it in scholomance and stratholme, from what i heard those 2 instances and drop all 4 (dont hang me up on this tho).

Last is the Soothsayer's Rune, the only place ive seen it drop from is Shannox in firelands, but it dropped first try for both me and others, so he might be a good choice to get it. When it drops, every one in the raid with Darkmoon Adventures Guide can loot it, unlike all the other of these items, that only can be looted by 1 player at a time.

EDIT: It seems i have been really lucky with the Dungeon part of there items, you shouldnt consider yourself unlucky if you need more tries than i descriped here.

Soothsayer Runes drops off the first boss of all the Cata raids, including Baradin Hold, so easiest way to get it is kill Argaloth. It does not drop from Morchok.

Happy New Year! :)

This is the first day of the 2nd DMF, I collected the artifacts all month in anticipation of this faire...however it is not allowing repeated turn-ins of the items I redeemed last month (ie, Montrous Egg, Imbued Crystal). Is this a glitch or working as intended? You have that it is 1 of each item per month, not sure if you have had this trouble as well. Thanks for any advice, if it is once EVER, that will tag on a ton of extra months for our pet/mount collecting :(

I believe the problem is there is a timer on the quests, not sure how long it is. The first Faire I turned in all the artifacts except the Treatise. Like you, during the rest of December I gathered a full set for the second Faire. I was able to turn in all of them except the 'A' and 'C' pvp artifacts. I'll try turning them in after maintenance on Tuesday. Hopefully, if it's a timer CD, it gets lowered to 20 days.

Blizzard's aware of the artifact bugs and hopefully we'll see a fix for it before the end of the DMF. I agree with GormanGhaste and recommend that you just keep on trying to turn the artifacts in throughout the week.

On a side note, if anyone can confirm that lower level dungeons are still dropping artifacts for a max level character (level 85), please let me know! 20 runs of Zul'Farrak on my 85 and I have yet to see one artifact drop. Droprate nerf or level appropriate dungeons only implementation since last DMF?

From what I've read, I think both. I believe these now only drop in level-appropriate dungeons and the drop rate has been lowered as well.

There's now a blue poster confirming that artifacts will only drop in level-appropriate dungeons:

"1. This was a bug that is being hotfixed. A character that is not level-appropriate for a dungeon should not get Monstrous Egg, Mysterious Grimoire, Imbued Crystal, or Ornate Weapon drops. This is irrespective of whether or not the character has a Darkmoon Adventurer's Guide in her bags." -- source

Also be sure to submit a ticket if you encountered any bugged artifacts for this month's DMF (January). According to the updated blue post a GM should be able to compensate you with DMF Tickets for the bugged artifacts.

If you get sent actual ticket items and the currency is not added directly to your currency tab, just speak with the GM again and ask to be given the currency instead.

I'm not sure if they will assist with this issue after the DMF ends for this month, so I wouldn't delay!

I kept trying my Adventurer's Journal and eventually the quest accepted; Insignia was still bugged. I submitted a ticket and got 10 tickets for whatever reason even though I only "deserved" the 5. Be sure to note that the GM will *delete* the items from your backpack though, so there's no free ride here (well, unless you get lucky like I did).

Not gonna complain though or anything...

I got 10 tickets for my two items when I made a ticket after there was a blue post saying those two quest items were bugged. :o

I've been running Stocks, ZF etc to see about the drop rates - at level 85, I've seen nothing unlike the first time round :(

I have heard from others that grabbing a mate or a guildy who *isn't* interested in the artefacts and running their lowbie alt through *will* trigger the drop for them and then they can hand it to you. The other way, I suppose, is offering free runs for the books - but that may be a little more risky.

You forgot to take into account that with pets being BOA now you can get all 6 pets very fast, just have 3 or 4 alts doing the dailies. As soon as you hit 90 tickets with them all.. 4 pets at once

Well, it was written about 1 year ago. :)

Using quest items is a really simple way to gain a lot of tickets with little to no effort. If you use the mod auctionator you can import the following list that I made:

*** Darkmoon Faire
A Treatise on Strategy
Adventurer's Journal
Banner of the Fallen
Captured Insignia
Imbued Crystal
Monstrous Egg
Mysterious Grimoire
Ornate Weapon
Soothsayer's Runes

This makes picking up cheap quest items easy, and you can come out even pretty easily if you check once in a while and buy them when they are at a lower price than the gold reward for turning them in.

Note that the new Darkmoon Faire <Master Pet Tamer> Jeremy Feasel http://www.wowhead.com/npc=67370 awards 5 DMF Tickets for each daily defeat of his pet battle team. This is an extra 35 tickets over the course of the Faire, that can be done on *any* server and character, subject to the L15 DMF quest restriction.

So, sure, buy Darkmoon Faire pets on your home server, if there's nothing else to spend them on, but if you are running a character on a new server, you can quickly get them into heirlooms this way. For even more heirlooms, get honored with a guild that has the heirloom helm, cloak, and pants. Sell caged pets from your home server on this new character's AH to pay for the guild' items.

MoonFang's Pelt can be turned in for 10 Tickets. I would be willing to bet that this will be once per every fair as well. (as of this post Moonfang has only visited the fair one week so far, so I can't confirm that)

Also a way to get a few extra tickets, though not very practical, is to drop a main profession and pick up a new one. You only need a skill of 75 to get the quest. In this manner you could in effect drop each as you complete it and grab the next on the list till you have done all professions. I did this once before many of the additional ways were added to get extra tickets. Tamer Jeremy Feasel would have put me easily over the amount I needed. Back then though he wasn't there. I was on a character who's professions weren't anywhere near completion so I just dropped both picked up 2 new ones got them over skill 75 so I could do the quests and got the 8 more tickets I needed to buy the last pet. I didn't have to wait till the next month just to earn those last few tickets.

Thanks for reminders on updates to the DMF! Once we find out if you can turn in Moonfang's Pelt once each faire or not, I'll add it to the list.

I would like to add that http://www.wowhead.com/item=93724 Darkmoon Game Prize are non stack-able, but trade-able items that contain 1 ticket, and a chance at items sold at the faire. Anything from the foam sword to one of the pets, or even the cloak and hammer can be in these 'bags'. You can bring alts to the faire and run the 5 daily mini-games and get essentially countless tickets per day to buy pets, mounts or heirlooms. I brought all my level 1 toons to the faire and then just traded over the Darkmoon Game Prizes to one toon, and bought pets. Though, using the prof quests and the artifact turn-ins does help speed up the process, it takes a whole lot less time and/or gold to run 2 level 1 toons through the 5 mini-games than it does to run a dungeon, and 'hope' an artifact drops, or to drop a prof and relearn a new one for the 4 tickets.

TL;DR:
Darkmoon Game Prizes are obtained from completing the 5 daily mini-games, and can be traded from one toon to another, making it infinitely easier to get 90 tickets for a pet.

Is there an easy way to see exactly what you turned in this Darkmoon Faire already? I turned in a handful of things in my bag; but, I had to run and completely forgot what I turned in and now am confused of what I had left.
