Re: Guide to tamer daily pet battles (5.3) - For veterans
Flowing Pandaren Spirit 16 rounds 1: Skywisp Moth [H/S] (2,1,1) 3: Spawn of G'nathus [-] (1,1,2) Pets with Cocoon Strike, like Moths, are a natural choice against pets that cast Whirlpool because the short cooldown lets you block every Whirlpool. But its not needed here. A P/P Wildhammer Gryphon Ha...

Re: Guide to tamer daily pet battles/BoF quests (5.4) Vetera
Chi-Chi seems ideal against the water (flowing) spirit rather than other flying pets. The 3rd pet isn't really needed but I'd probably just bring a Crocodile of some description for a fast/safe finish. Chi-Chi is also very good against Wastewalker Shu. Tried Chi-Chi and he was very good against the...

Re: 5.4 Guide to Master Tamer (levelling) + Beasts of Fable
I'd even love to see 1 pet strats for levelling 2 pets at once. When two pets get XP they each get half of what they would have if they were the only pet. So after two battles, getting XP for just pet A and then just pet B gets you to the same place as getting XP for A and B together twice. And sin...

Re: Guide to tamer daily pet battles/BoF quests (5.4) Vetera
You know what? I don't recall ever testing with the Spawn of Onyxia for that fight and 95% definitely beats 90%. I'll have to make that change back again. Actually, these days I use the Pandaren Water Spirit itself to close out the fight. A strong bird should easily handle the first two. When I get...

Re: 5.4 Guide to Master Tamer (levelling) + Beasts of Fable
I'm in the camp of the guide having the best/fastest strats and definitely against any compromises done in the name of trying to reduce the different number of pets used in the guide or restricting things to easily available pets only. This is for veteran tamers; if a strat uses a pet or breed I don...

Re: Guide to tamer daily pet battles/BoF quests (5.4) Vetera
My fellow tester always used the [pet]Electrified Razortooth[/pet] instead of Snarly, but what I could not get around was the lack of a "goes first" move which makes several fights go smoother. Just to be clear I was suggesting it as an alternative for the Burning Pandaren Spirit tamer only. Partly...

Re: Guide to tamer daily pet battles/BoF quests (5.4) Vetera
I've been getting 12 round kills against the Whispering Pandaren Spirit using a P/P Nether Faerie Dragon (Arcane Blast, Life Exchange, Moonfire) and Chrominius. The only "problem" I've had is that when Whispertail dies in 3 rounds, Wild Winds is still up when I pass my carry pet through and it take...

Re: Guide to tamer daily pet battles/BoF quests (5.4) Vetera
I tried this out with both 5-S/S and 4-P/P breeds (simulating being slept at least 6 times each, forfeiting when the 1st Moth Dust missed), and it doesn't feel as sure as the Celestial Dragon version. It does win, but if you get slept by the 1st Moth Dust and the 2nd Moth Dust doesn't outright miss...

Re: What breed of Bonkers is the best?
dodge is LITERALLY twice as good (you actually are dodging 2 rounds) if your pet with dodge is higher speed. Being faster also lets you use Dodge reactively. Say the pet you're fighting uses a move like Burrow or Lift-Off; if you're faster you can Dodge at the start of the next round and avoid that...

Re: Guide to tamer daily pet battles/BoF quests (5.4) Vetera
I think the guide should definitely contain the best strats even if they require hard to get or unavailable pets. When that's the case, though, there should just be additional strategies and include one using obtainable pets. So, I'm glad to see you took that exact approach for b]Aki[/b] and listed ...

Re: What breed of Bonkers is the best?
Compromise and get a P/S like I did :) breed power/speed P/S 289/289 P/P 325/260 S/S 260/325 I pretty much only fight tamers and from that perspective a P/S is unlikely to have enough speed to let you be first and get the most out of dodge. Generally, you generally have to be above 300 to have any ...

Re: Shademaster Kiryn
Deep Freeze Strategies for Shademaster Kiryn These two strats make use of the Chilled effect that Nairn himself applies. An Unborn Val'kyr casts Doom and Haunt and then we use Deep Freeze to stun and knock him into the back row where he'll die from the dots. Only drawback is that Deep Freeze can mis...

Re: WASTEWALKER SHU
To add another post on this combo my carry pet strat for Shu is simply the P/P or Breed 4 Onyxia Whelpling with liftoff + carry pet + insert hard hitting mechanical. I use the darkmoon tonk, but any of the related mechs would work fine. The key is the lift off. Lift Off, combined with the heal, wil...

Re: Guide to tamer daily pet battles (5.3) - For veterans
I know the spirit of this involves quickly killing the tamers, but if I can do two carry pets, even at the expense of longer battles, I find it a good tradeoff. If there are two pets getting XP then each will get *half* as much XP as if they had been the only pet getting XP. So, over the course of ...

Re: Guide to tamer daily pet battles (5.3) - For veterans
I think he was saying: Cast explode <--> casts stone skin swap carry pet/swap bunny <--> burrows cast dodge <--> burrow fails you shouldn't need to do your carry pet ability. Just swap in and swap out in the one round. I would rewrite that as: Cast explode - select carry pet <--> casts stone skin s...

Re: Guide to tamer daily pet battles (5.3) - For veterans
After taking on Little Tommy and only getting 1.8k when I did a carry pet team, I instantly knew it wasn't worth it for the tourney. Why I gave up and just went with a team that can beat them fast. Also during the PTR the medic would heal your pet inside but reset your progress, now she doesn't do ...

Re: Guide to tamer daily pet battles (5.3) - For veterans
A Lamb is now my choice as the best pet to open with against Wrathion: Chew > Stampede > Soothe > Chew (or pass) > swap to next pet Chew + Stampede kill Cindy for good on round 4. Soothe will put Alex to sleep at the end of round 6; Wrathion will respond by swapping to Dah'da. This is a good thing f...

Re: Guide to tamer daily pet battles (5.3) - For veterans
I created a team that can level a pet versus Wrathion reliably and fairly quickly (20-22 rounds or so) 1: H/P Stone Armadillo (Scratch, Shell Shield, Powerball) 2: carry pet 3: S/S Bonkers (Jab, Dodge, Tornado Punch) The Armadillo's Shell Shield completely blocks all of the Blistering Cold. Being a ...

There's a strategy mentioned on another thread which uses a Red Cricket and a Tranquil Mechanical Yeti which has been working for me. You can also find the Red Cricket / Tranquil Mechanical Yeti strategy in this thread, back on page 10 where it was first introduced to the world. ;) Its been updated...
