My buddy Enzzo's blog has some pretty good walkthroughs for dealing with the spirit tamers. He's started a new job and only has a couple of posts on the fabled beasts so far, but the advice from the pandaren trainers and spirit tamers stuff is pretty useful. I literally couldn't explain them better ...
I just use double Bats and Brilliant Kaliri for the aquatics. Literally the first 3 flyers on my favorites list. Reckless Strike until dead, reckless strike until dead, predatory strike, done.
Good list. Tracked one down through the pet breed lists towards the beginning, but nice to see it all in one spot. Named my Twilight Spider Itsy Blitzy. =)
It's just a shame that once I collect all the panda pets, I probably won't be revisiting the Elite Battle Pets for anything. Perhaps they should add a (much) higher droprate of Flawless or family-specific Battle-Stone from each fight. That would definitely get more players' interest in these fights...
Pretty much any of them do fine vs beasts. Fluxfire's big strength (besides the obviously overpowered one) was being one of the few particularly worthwhile double-threats and covering both beast and critter well enough. Most of the other mechanicals with a beast attack have Thrash, and I cannot stan...
Only thing I've been able to think of is something with plagued blood and/or deathgrip, and a healer for the 3rd. Plagued blood-switch-dot-dot-dot-switch to heal-heal-switch-plagued blood-etc.
Been meaning to try the pig with Clock'em for Haymaker, the Robo Cub is a good point, though. Thanks.
ETA: I very much hope they add more team accuracy pets, I very much dislike seeing entire strategies gated by access to content even if I already have access.
He lacks any sort of real niche other than being the world's fastest elemental. He doesn't really have any big hits to let that extra speed save him a round of damage, either, so it's kind of meh overall.
I've been using the bit about sandstorm blocking all damage from swarm to start off my level 1's on Aki for a while now. It'd probably be more useful if I said things like that instead of waiting until you mention it in some other circumstance to remember.
PS: I learned about it at the trainer in Townlong Steppes, was wondering why he allways killed my mech lvlpets with his pump (I was using one of his pumps to switch in for the exp, sure to be rezzed and switch it out again - just to see him killing that damned pet always ;) ) for the The Townlong s...
Jade Owl is far and away the most useful of the magic types for the reasons given above. Enchanted Broom is fairly strong, however, and might be very useful come 5.2 against hard hitting beasts with the FFF getting nerfed to oblivion. Wind-up, plus magic family bonus to keep you from dying to Darnak...
I gotta recommend a pure power emperor crab for a crab, and it's a good and fun pet to have for a lot of reasons. also spending the first mechanical rare stone you get on the mech dragon is a pretty good choice. I'm also going to recommend my friends blog at warpets.info He has a bunch of writeups f...
Pretty sure the top rated pets thing is mostly a popularity contest and pre-dates the ability to battle pets. As for the Blood Knight, I usually use Pandaran Mechanical Dragonling (takes less damage from magic, and dragonbreath deals more to magic) and Snarly (aquatic vs elemental). I'm typically le...
Enzzo is on the road this week, and I have no idea if he had any posts already written and set to go up, but he'll be back as soon as he finds an internet connection I'm sure. In the meantime, I wanted to say thanks to the person who suggested Emerald Proto-Whelp for dealing with Mo'ruk. A healing p...
IIRC none of the 'fish' type pets are available in rare (except the Purple Puffer from TCG). So if you want one of them to play with, use it for Fishy or the Tiny Gold Fish. Sea Pony is also a pretty decent little guy upgraded. In terms of actual battling, however, the only aquatics I actually use a...
Okay, you named your Flayer Scyther, so I'm going to assume you know that...other game. Would you really take the same team to every trainer battle? (Other than outleveling them entirely and just thundershocking everything with a level 99 Pik...electric mouse.) I use a different team for almost ever...
