Re: Dupes or not?

The BMAH TCG pets are Bananas, Hippogryph, Dragon Kite, Rocket Chicken . The current availability of those pets on US horde AHs is 33, 60, 70, 41, respectively, compared to 262 ESTs. My best guess is that legit players speculated on cheap ESTs during the course of 5.1-5.3, without knowing the extent...

Re: Dupes or not?

Ethereal is still a very rare pet This is a misconception. There are 291 ESTs on Horde AHs at this moment across all US servers. Compare that to 116 Crawling Claws, 122 Crimson Whelplings, 65 Dragon Kites, 39 Rocket Chickens, 11 Tuskarr Kites. It's priced like a rare pet because historically it has...

Re: April Fool's Breeds

Depressingly, I knew it was an april fool from the beginning, because there's no way Bliz is going to put as much effort into breeding as was put into this.

Re: April Fool's Breeds

Totally agree, these are way more awesome than anything I expect from WoD. Fantastic job; companion cube and carpnado are especially hilarious. The photoshopping is superb as well.

Re: C.T. Guidance

Alex has a huge power advantage and the heal is probably putting you too far behind. Your Scourged Whelpling is ideal for this fight due to Call Darkness and reduced incoming damage. You just need to find a substitute in your Zhu team, which could probably be a spider. *edit* -- assuming cricket kil...

Re: Just curious

I suspect that a lot of the more hardcore folks have mostly finished what they wanted to get from pet PvP and have probably moved on. I haven't even bothered with the 10 wins per week for a few weeks now. The few weeks before that, I didn't see a lot of the 'top' teams. So I'd guess that the queue h...

Re: If there were no pet PvP...

I think PvP is the only thing providing any depth and/or long-term playability. PvE is not about building a good team, it's about picking 3 counter-pets. And in any case the PvE content is extremely limited. PvP is the only opportunity to fight challenging teams with intelligent comps and tactics. A...

Re: AH prices WoD

I'm at a loss with how they will introduce breeding but still maintain a balance in all aspects (PVE, PVP, the economy, etc.) The basic pet battle design is very elegant and modular, for the most part. There's a simple formula for making individual abilities balanced. And it's set up so that if ind...

Re: AH prices WoD

You'd probably have to make the surviving parent not cagable too otherwise people just learn the pet, breed it for their own copy and resell the pet again. I feel that the surviving parent, should definitely be cageable, as long as it's not a wild pet. But this is obviously a huge problem. If a par...

Re: Dread Hatchling

Unborn Val'kyr, S/S DAH and Dread Hatchling(Consume Corpse, Blessing). That's pretty cute, and probably the best way to milk Anzu's that I've seen. But again, Anzu's is not objectively powerful. So even though it combines nicely with Haunt, it doesn't necessarily produce a significant benefit. Haun...

Re: Bigger, Faster, Stronger. What pets to improve in WoD

Turrets would gain very little is my guess, and still be blocked by sandstorm/shell. They would still be blocked by shields, yes. But Turrets is one of the best scaling abilities in the game: 9 base damage per turn for 5 turns, or 45 total. Also Repair scales well with power: 70 base damage heal (s...

Re: Are pet battles pay to win?

I have read through a fair share of people claiming that to be the "true way" of being good at Pets. Having more options for your team will always give you an advantage. However anyone who says there is one 'true way' is fooling you (or themselves). Pet battles are designed as a rock/pape...

Re: Soul-Traders duped again?

11 soul traders from the same person proof? here it is. http://imgur.com/uNMsDhd It's not proof. I looked into this briefly -- it's a lvl 90 seller on Stormrage(A), https://theunderminejournal.com/battlepet.php?realm=A-Stormrage&species=183 . I'd say report him. Soul Traders are still over 200 ...

Re: bugs bugs bugs (5.4)

That's actually referencing a different bug, it's #6 on the OP list, affectionately called the 'negative accuracy' bug. I listed them separately because I'm fairly sure that the root cause is different. In the case of certain multi-hit abilities, the 2nd/3rd/4th hits just don't check for accuracy bu...

Re: bugs bugs bugs (5.4)

Ice Lance under Blizzard hits its additional damage even when blinded from an adder. I did confirm this yesterday (2014-03-12) with both a Tundra Penguin and a Rotten Little Helper . This is bug #7 on the list. Many multi-hit abilities behave this way: Moth Balls, Blessed Hammer, Ice Lance (under B...

Re: Dread Hatchling

You're right that we don't know the details of breeding, so it's not clear whether Dread Hatchling will be the 'best' crow that we can get. I'm just annoyed because the precedent so far is that CE pets are not top-tier PvP pets, but they do have interesting/unique moves and/or movesets. That seems l...

Re: Dread Hatchling

Just to point out the obvious, Anzu/swap/Sword/Sword/Sword is ~1560 damage over 5 turns, or ~312 damage per turn. That's not better than just spamming Magic Sword, or most other generic slot 1 spammable attacks. Anzu's isn't worthwhile in its current form. Also, Shadow Talons changed from UD to Flyi...

Re: Help against annoying teams

It sounds like an interesting and strong team! Team 2 might do decent. It seems able to eat the Minefields quite well! Team 3 would also do reasonable well! Curse of doom + Haunt. Decoy. Switch in Moth. CoCoon Strike. Eating minefields is tough, even with high health pets. The team is set up to abu...

Re: Help against annoying teams

DAH would be excellent against all of those teams, and excellent in general. Blind is a wonderful counter to Thunderbolt/Bonestorm/Nether Gate/Minefield, and Puncture Wound is a double-hit that eats both Decoy charges if they're poisoned. You would just need to protect him from the moths. A lot of t...

Re: Need a Sudden Death mechanic?

This comes down to a problem with how we're rewarded for pet PvP. Losses don't count, so people hunting the achieves probably want to optimize wins per time. Whereas most games encourage you to optimize win percentage instead, and the queue is filled with both types of players. Healing absolutely sh...
