On the upside you are able to trade Lumpy once you learn the pet, just cage it.
I have discovered for those that have not been using alts that at 74 the quest is not available but at 84 it is. I am going to guess that 80 is the magic level.

They make me sad . Why must Blizz torture us? I encounter the Ram on occasion but that Gazelle constantly taunts me.

I was just going to suggest something along these lines. I know that the armory provides the information but Warcraft Pets is my (and many other's) source for in game pet info.
