I started collecting pets when I realized that raining fire and destruction down upon my enemies is not as satisfying without a little creature cheering me on in the background.
I like to collect at my leisure, going for one pet for a few days before going on to another. I can't sit down for a week and kill the same mobs over and over hoping for a drop. I go at it for a few days (maybe just a few hours), get bored of the zone, and move on to try for another.
