With the name *spectral* - this should be an undead - however, it is listed as *magic* so be aware of that this pet will not rez on death. In any case, works great when paired with scourged whelping.

 

Call Darkness + Spectral Strike.

Used vs strongest dmg opponents (Aquatic), this is a killer pet! Very unique looking as well and so glad, unlike others, that Blizz lowered the height because no one could see it properly before.  Biscuits that are used to increase its size make it an imposing presence!  It will strike lightning down to you not only in rainy weather but also when you go into fountains, rivers and streams as my lowbie toon found out in Scarlet Monestary!  A very fun pet and used wisely, a formidable battle pet! Slicing Wind + FlyBy with the Flying passive ability are an excellent combo with no cds. ATM only 2.7% have this pet and many of the comments are pre 5.2 - would be great to hear from those that use it in battle post 5.2 :)

He indeed hits like a truck.  Some AoE lightning breath, mostly melee dmg.

North most area in water on Isle of Shan'ze Dao in Towne Long Steppes.  Loc 25, 6. Look for the 2 caged cloudrunner hatchlings by the top of the cliff.

A few pointers that helped a group of 4 (War tank, Monk healer, Mage and me - shad priest)

There is a small rock area you can sit and rest and tag him & helps to reset if things are going bad and to drink up on a corpse run.  Nearly a direct line after  a slight turn if you do die.

 

You need to be in the water for the fight, just prepare to see him rise above it once engaged.  AoE damage will aggro 2 small reef pincer crabs that are easy to kill but you will not aggro anything else.

 

He respawned approx 5-10 min

 

I got lucky and won the roll - thank you <Pirates of the Blackwater> - they know to call on me if they need assistance :)

Excellent for wild pve & npc pet battles especially the H/H breed as it can take a licking and often outlast a  trio of rares provided they are not very strong vs aquatics.

The event is located at Turtle Beach in Krasarang Wilds loc 72, 32. Be there a few minutes before the event starts or just a few minutes before it ends (2 hours in between from opening ceremonies to closing ceremonies).

 

They are lvl 23-25 so bring your lvl 25 pets. You will most likely only get one shot as this area is often populated with other collectors. Be sure your trio is full health & capture the turtle even if poor quality. 

 

The window to grab a turtle is very small & once the 3-5 that pop are gone that's it, there is no respawning til the next week. They will not appear as secondary battle pets.  Once the celebrants lay the lanterns they are carrying in the water, the turtles will appear. 

If you stick around you will get the achievement just for attending [Wanderers, Dreamers, and You]

 

Alliance faction can unlock a flight path just nearby *The Incursion* @ 67, 32

got a poor just now but i'm happy - southern barrens try loc 46, 65 and again @ 48, 72 - they travel with Barrens Giraffe

I suggest you bring either a lvl 10 pet to capture these guys or turnip - anything lower and the twister might kill it and anything higher and you might kill the rare that you want like I did before I knew about terrible turnip's weakening blow ^.^

Interestingly enough, I just got a poor breed of P/S - which is not listed at all using Battle Pet BreedID addon so when you're looking at it the designation is (???) but once I select it in my list the P/S shows up in yellow text.  These are lvl 1 btw. #s in () are at lvl 25

when you drop the crate, don't be afraid to abandon a fight if they are poor or common - you should get a green or rare after a bit as they keep popping - just a note tho - you may get enticed to fight because when 2 other mobs join, one of them might be an upgrade for you.  Try to resist and keep going for the rares on the sumprush :)

Have had this one since it was a vanity pet and always found it cute.  Now as a battle pet I find it outstanding esp for pve farming. 

 

Now that I got it to 25, I find it a great utility pet - esp with the self heal.  The Lift-off ability is extremely effective just note that it misses about 1 in 5 attempts (actual misses not including dodges).  The Breath ability is nearly always a hit, and Tail Sweep is dangerous.  If you pair this pet with a Fel Flame, the scorched earth is deadly paired with the Flame's Conflagrate.

 

Good luck to all of you farming this one and if you see it in the AH and have the $, grab it because the drop rates are rough.  I have tried farming it to make some $ with no luck and have only seen it listed twice in 2 different server AH in the last 6 mos.

Sadly they nerfed this one - I feel they added one round too many to the cd on the self-heal :(

have yet to make it but apparently it is along the lines of JC and Eng pets that have a rare name in AH but will yield a lesser quality pet upon learning it - buyer beware! 

Just got a poor quality on Gundrak Oceanic server after 3 days 4 server constant campings - this place is a hotbed of pet addicts lol - I was getting annoyed but stayed hopeful based on the posts here so thank you all for the encouragement.  For those of you that are still searching, don't give up hope.  Keep checking & keep killing - keep your camps short to 15 min intervals so you don't get as frustrated as I did ;)

 

BTW, I made about 5 different DKs on various low pop servers but was dismayed to see about 13 or so other freshly made DKs running around as well on nearly each of them.

Flew several hours today in and out of CoT area on 3 diff realms - last one was on Vek'nilash and was about to log out when the paw popped on mini map.   A panda was just staring at it for a few seconds so I swooped down and engaged... so happy it was a rare too!  9:55pm server 60,50 loc (I use koordinator addon) just at the entrance to the path that divides Tanaris and CoT.

I got a rare BH when I engaged in a different pet battle in Anderhol. The nice surprise is I didn't even know about this pet until this happened :x good luck to all you hunting for it.  Just a note: I am finding many rares as secondary battle pets by just engaging in at least 10 pet battles in each zone with the usual fauna.

buyer beware indeed: you can buy a rare one off the AH only to learn it as a different quality - luckily I only paid 1500g for a rare - once learned it became uncommon.

note: shows up in AH when created as a rare - but once you learn it, it becomes uncommon - i tested it by learning 3 rares all 3 when looked up were uncommon - let me know if anyone actually learns this as a rare and it stays as a rare

just got a rare after 5 battles :) fights pretty well too

Does it matter if you have a PC and get the Mac CE of SCII for the pet? Will it work anyway? I am thinking yes since all you need to do is put in the code in your accnt to confirm you have it but I am wondering if anyone knows for sure.
