Finally decided to farm this cute pet. As a lvl 85 Demo Lock it was easy as pie & I was able to skip a lot of the junk. I ran it a total of 21 times so far and the Phoenix dropped on the 11 & 18 runs. I timed a couple of my runs and it took me approximately 7-8 minutes each. As a bonus, I've made quite a bit of gold just by selling the cloth and anything else that drops. Still trying for the mount :)

this little guy is adorable. he doesn't throw the flowers, he plants them and then flutters around while they grow. i had all sorts of colors of flowers planted at my feet while in northend, dont think they're specific to the area your in. this is probably my new favorite pets! he's so active and certainty gets a lot of attention from others :)

This pet is very cute, but the quest chain leading up to it is a pain in the butt! It's so long and you have to do a bunch of running back and forth. I guess it's worth is in the end, he's bigger then my gnome! Would be a nice reward for anybody in that level range after all the running back and forth they have to do.

As others have said, there are 30 raptors to kill & they're all in the entrance of the caverns, making resets easy. I reset it 3 times and killed 75 raptors. Super cute :)

Edit 10/4/10: I attempted to get another Deviate Hatchling for a friend after I got mine..it took 404 loots! Now trying to get another for somebody else and I'm on my 780th loot and no Hatchling! According to "Bunny Hunter" I have a 100% chance of it dropping, but I still haven't gotten it :(

As a owner of 2 pet snakes, this was a must have. It is really beautiful and looks more white in the game then it does in the picture there. More animations would be nice, but I can wait :] If you're having trouble getting your hands on the 50g required to buy him, just remember, loot everything and sell anything you don't need. Easiest way to make money until your professions are high.

I started farming for this pet at 55 whenever a guildie had a quest in there or something. After running it about 15 times, no luck. But I ended up with 4 Siamese Cats! Finally, after lots of frustration I found it in my mail box from a friend who was tired of hearing me complain :P

I got this in WAY less then 1000 drops. I killed all the whelps in the area about 2 times, got bored. Came back about 6 hours later, killed about 10 of them and got it. That could'nt have been more then 150 whelps all together. Hopefully others will be as lucky as I was :]

Breanni says to kill the matriarch in order to get the little hatchling, but I stumbled upon a nest that gave me the hatchling. If you have the Carbonite AddOn the coordinates I found it at were 71.0.30.9 Hope that helps somebody :] Good luck!

Edit: I have gone back almost every day since I first got this egg and it has been there each time! Got a few for some friends! Easiest pet I've gotten so far :]

I completed this quest at lvl 68 and thought it was much more difficult then others have said. It is non-stop fighting all the way until the end which leaves a lock with no mana and low health. Not to mention the fact that its an elite at the end. I did not bring anybody along because of my minion, but if I had to do it again, I probably would. So if you're doing this plan to bring a friend before you start it! Good luck!

Considering I have owned several pet rats in real life and adore them, this was a must have pet for me. It is adorable and almost as high as I am when it stands, as I am a gnome :P But for anybody worried about the 1 in 1000 drop rate, fear no more! I got mine at around 800 drops. Not nearly as bad, hehe. Good luck to fellow rat lovers and pet collectors!
