In two weeks, I have never seen a rare Jade.  I noticed some posts about time of day or weather, anyone have an idea when the best time to farm for the Jade ones?

There is a spot on Windward Isle where a number spawn in a tight area.  I only found three which were a problem for uneven terrain etc and I would kill them and move on.  I kept killing all critter and battle pets too which helped the respawn.  The mobs in the area can be a pain if you are not high enough level. I think this is the best spot to farm them but patience is needed. Took me 50+ tries to get a rare [5], that is only from the ones with a Sandy Petrel as the primary.

Still looking for a rare.  Have found many in Hyjal around Nordrassil and in the Barrow Dens as secondaries but no rares.  Never found them as primaries.

Like many have said go in the barrow dens.  I noticed 8 spawn points all in the dens and they respawned rapid enough that I could many continuous laps back and forth til I got my rares. Always Grotto Vole as a primary.  I also killed any critters (especially grotto voles) on my routes to help respawns. Took less than an hour to get my rare. Saw quite a few Uncommon Voles and got a rare Carrion Rat as a second.

Tried flight path approach many times but never saw a single one.  Flew from Winterspring, Moonglade, Ashenvale, within Felwood, started in Felwood ended outside, started outside ended inside Felwood; never saw any Minfernals. Maybe just unlucky. Tried flight path again today and saw one close enough to /tar but not interact with.  Decided to fly back myself and it was there so it wasn't because of the flight path trick.  Snagged my Minfernal poor quality but breed 4 so I am done with this one.

Found a rare inside the cave after about 20 battles.  Originally there were no stunted yets at all so I killed all the mobs and critters in the caves then some of the pets would spawn.  I would suggest killing everything in caves and some may appear.

I have been using a Dragonbone Hatchling (4,14) which is awesome in battle because it was easy to get a rare for me (basically same abilities).  I only have a poor quality Eagle Chick (4,14) but when I look at the stats if I stone it, they will actually be better so I need to go back and try to get a rare Eagle Chick.

p.s. Also consider the Jade Owl (Magic) JC pet comes as uncommon but same ability set.

Flew around the area and none to be seen so starting killing the npcs walking around.  Still nothing.  Finally flew way up and killed some of the hatchlings (maybe 10-20). Then when I flew around the zone again two had spawned.  Both common so I took one (4,14) and left one for the next hunter.  Seems killing the hatchlings does help.

Searched for this guy last night.  Lots around. Easy to get an uncommon or lower but I killed about 80 and no rare so I gave up.

Decided to try again and after MANY kills no rare. Finally decided to grab the one that spawns inside the tree trunk kind of in the middle of the island. Used /tar then the interact with target key bind and wouldn't you know it... RARE!

Found a rare as a background pet.  Had been dropping battles though looking for rares so I dropped to heal up and then re-engage.  Wouldn't you know as I dropped a tiger in the area ran up and killed the critter and left me staring at a critter corpse! Lol.  I really dislike the durability loss from dropping battles when trying to grind rares.

Looked for this last night for the first time and there were none to be found.  Decided to fly around valley below the falls and kill other pets.  Killed six other pets then flew back to falls and one had spawned. Common but oh well I got one.  Tried same approach again killed pets in valley came back and another had spawned.  So try killing pets in the valley below and see if you spawn a whelp above the falls.

So do we have a confirmation that winter is over as far as snowy owls are concerned? What are some other seasonal pets we should be looking for?  By the time I knew this one was in winter only I seem to have been too late to get it this year.

Soloed as SPriest and got him on first try.  Used old transmog dagger with MOP elemental force enchant and my Barov Family trinket I had in my bank.  Worked perfectly although I froze him to early and had to freeze him again them wait for my trinket to reset (10 min) to finish him off.  Couldn't crack him with my fiend.

Do pets still drop if you already have one in your journal?

Thanks, guess there is a reason to keep running these raids even after you get the pets then.  Got all from Molten Core on first run but none from BWL or AQ.  Have soloed all raids for new pets as a SPriest.
