As of 5.1, this guy's needed for the achievement. Eventhough I had one, it was not recognized in the achievement list. I set him free and captured a new one, earned the achievement.

I didn't see anyone mention this, but be mindful of the cross-realm status. Midnight local time might not be midnight server time, and it's the server time that matters. Had to wait until 3 AM local to try for my Shadeling. Good luck!
For some reason, Deadwind Pass is "cross-realmed" but I fly over the hill to STV and server and local time match. le sigh.

As of 5.1, the moth is now working. I had to release and recapture, but got credit and the achievement today.
