This pet only really shows up as capturable in Andorhal, and although they show on the mini-map and are /target -able, if you're phased for that area, be reassured they can be captured as the secondary from any pet battles around the zone. Don't want to waste your time (like I did!) and don't bother trying to chase up the quest-chains to un-phase it - an hour wasted, still unable to unphase it! Just challenge any critters that aren't phased in WPL and you should get a blighthawk without much difficulty.

The comments left by madwolf and glowyrm here confirm the full quest chains required to be able to pick up the final "An Old Friend" quest. As mentioned on Quintessence's blog, if you're horde, you'll need to have finished (or not started) the phased introduction to STV as an 85 before you can start it.

Ignoring the latest patch, I have now got all the battle pets as rares. :)
Only the quite hard to get ones now - Darkmoon Rabbit, Porcupette - also working on rep with the anglers for the goldfish, collecting tokens for the Sumprush Rodent and need to convince the guild to start trying for challenge dungeons! :PJust started the thunder isle quests, but don't expect to just blitz through those as I've not been on wow much due to RL stuff. :(
I'm not a big fan that the new pets drop from the new raids because I'm not sure I'll get to play them at the minute - I understand why they've done it, but am not impressed.
