Anyone know if, like some of the other rarer spawns, it helps to kill or defeat other battlepets in the area? One of the Crystalsong Forest spawn points seems to have 3-4 other battlepets there. Or are these guys on a completely separate spawn timer? I looked off and on at all spots today and saw nothing other than other people checking/camping for them.
I did this with 3 ales. One to start. A second as an insurance policy. Then a third to trade Morja for the egg. Now for the week's wait to hatch the egg. I used the Direbrew remote to quickly get the ales. BTW, these ales are not soulbound, so you can email them between toons. Also, the vendor only sells 10, but there are another 5 that you can loot from the table if you want to get as many as possible at once.
Found an uncommon near the cave entrance. It was the only one I had seen since capturing a poor a few months ago. Oddly, there were lots of other players around...I guess none were looking for the spawn. Yesterday around 2pm ST. Not even sure if I want to level this guy up since the moves are exactly the same as the Onyxian Whelpling 5th Anniversary pet - already leveled that one to 25.
Found mine today at 1pm ST at the nest at 62, 65. I read on Wowhead that the nest spawns independently of the Matriarch. Whether true or not, I killed the Matriarch, then checked the various nest coordinates and found this one about 5 mins after the kill. The Matriarch was nowhere near this nest at the time of her death. Could just be coincidence that both were spawned together.
UPDATE: Found another the next day at 9:15 ST...same coords. I saw no Matriarch this time.
Like previous comment, I found 3 NW of Mogu'shan Palace. All 3 of those were rares! One level 24 and 2 level 25 rares (all breed 8, 18). Previously, I had seen a group of 3 more west of Mogu'shan Palace. But those 3 were all poors. Can't wait to level up at least 1, if not 2 of them. I use my fast moths on Thundering Spirit all the time (was using a rare Fungal Moth until these catches)! Also got a Flawless Flying Stone after 3rd battle!
Found a poor one ages ago just by flying over. Decided to go back for a rare and killed the whole cave in order to spawn just one, but most times they seemed to spawn soon after I killed The Direglob. I found 3 more poors and an uncommon. And one I inadvertently killed with AOE on the slimes. I was going to level the uncommon but it is a breed 3. One of my poors was a breed 4, so maybe I'll just wait for a stone and upgrade that one instead. 6+ passes and no bag with Disgusting Oozeling.
I finally got a stone to upgrade my uncommon to rare. But does anyone know if the Demolish "high chance to miss" changes frequency when changing to a rare? I had a battle today (b4 I got the stone) where it missed 6 times in a row and then the poor bear was done for. I can't see this guy being useful against the masters in Pandaria if he misses all the time. Or could the misses be more often if he is too low level? (lev 19 robo vs lev 25 beast) Any thoughts?
I can re-confirm that it is based on Pacific Time. The lanterns in the water spawn first, then the NPCs coming to the beach, then right after I got the Acheivement for Wanderers, Dreamers and You, I noticed the little green paws spawn. There were six of them with only 4 of us on the beach getting the acheivement and I think looking for the spawns. BTW, it must become a CRZ at this time as there were other realms there as well, even though Pandaria is not CRZ yet.
Got mine at 9:55pm ST on Illidan. He was the only one outside the cave (55.77, 56.26) and a rare! I didn't see anymore paws indicating more inside the cave. Looks like he was the only one around. I never even knew these guys existed b/c he isn't on the Kalimdor Safari list. I just happened to be traveling through Feralas, and saw him as a pet that I was missing through a pet tracking addon. Glad I checked!
Just got mine finally. I logged into my toon stationed over shatter scar vale, pulled up the minfernal page on this site with WOW still open so I could see the mini map and started reading comments for hunts on spawn times and the little green paw popped up on the mini map! Poor, breed 8/18, and I'll upgrade it the first chance I get! Around 9:30pm ST...and haven't seen one since (been 10-15 mins)
Beside cross realm phasing, could there be quest phasing issues with this and other SP pets? I flew around for about 20 mins on my mage who never quested there and saw no battle pets at all.
Update: Quest phasing doesn't seem to matter. SP pets are just not abundant. Looked off and on for about 4-5 days.
Got mine (rare) just b4 server/cross realm restart! Not sure if that had anything to with it or if it was coincidence. Saturday 9:15 am w/snow.
9am server time and I feel like it only rained for about 10 mins. Most were poor or common, but I did find one uncommon. Just as an FYI, when it was fully raining, all the pets were baby apes. I started to notice the normal pet types spawning and then it stopped raining. I was in a battle when the rain stopped and there were no more anywhere on the island when my battle was through. So if you see a few apes and a bunch of other types or pets, I'd take the first one you find, just to be sure you get one.

Stagnant on new pets. Just working on leveling rares to 25 and changing non-rares to rare. I think I have 94 or 95 rares at level 25.
So far my favorite way to level is by using the low level dailies (winterspring, shadowmoon, and deadwind trainers) with a level 25 and 1 or 2 much lower level pets. Then moving them on battle Nishi in Pandaria when they are level 18 or greater. Nishi has to be the easiest Master. My Eternal Strider can usually manage the whole fight.
