Killing the elementals does not seem to actually do anything. I stayed in the area for several hours, killing them as they came and checking for the pet. Eventually I simply came upon one while making my rounds around the zone. Confirmed that they DO spawn with their larger brethren, but seemingly at no particular time. Found at 5:35pm server time. Good luck!

Big Hurrah! I got myself a Darkmoon Eye yesterday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I named him Sauron :) Now only the Crawling Claw remains on my most sought list.
