as a hordie, i couldn't tame the ones that spawned, but i noticed that they tended to be seconds or thirds to rattlesnakes and highland turkeys -- got my uncommon that way after several tries
it's very cute to have your hatchling out when your druid is a boomkin and use the /dance emote on it -- the synching is hilarous!
got my little sweetheart on my first runthru with the greench -- now it's time to run his lvls up!
found one on my third server just outside of the tainted airfield and tamed it quickly -- was lucky enough to get an uncommon! to sweeten the deal, it's one kick-butt battlepet ... windup rocks!
found 2 calves 36 hours apart ... both just to the southeast of the great gate ... lost the first to a ganking ally (NEVER hunt for pets on a pvp server!) and got the second ... only poor quality, but, like my minfernal, will do as a placeholder for now
spent the better part of the last week flying circles around the area and finally tamed one at 2206 realm time (area 52) -- it's only a poor, but i'm going to keep it until i can tame something better ... if it's like the spawn of onyxia, it'll take 30+ tames to get at least a common!
much harder to find at least an uncommon than it's purple counterpart -- also not as numerous
found hordes (pun intended) of them @ the purple entrance to mauradon -- and lucked onto a rare on my second try!
on alexstrasza found it @ 48, 19 next to a tree and debris from a cart -- promises to be a lovely pet
agreed as far as the low health ... took only two shots from my lvl5 magic lantern to make it trap-able
an excellent way to lvl your sinister squashling ... and doesn't take much to get a rare
NOTE: you **DO NOT** have to /cheer the chicken any more!!! i lost the quest 5 times (and *lots* of minutes of my time) by doing this
just feed the stupid thing when it gives you the quest; make sure that you have the feed FIRST, and it helps keep critter-killers away if you put a mark (they laughed @ my skull, but were otherwise respectful) on your bird
note to EVERYONE: do *not* go looking for this one on a pvp server -- lvl 90 allies kept pwning my butt (granted, my pally's only 50, but still ... !)
got it on the docks of tanaris -- a rare on my first battle!
took nearly *30* battles to get anything higher than a common!
got it on the beach by the naga when missed capturing a turquoise turtle -- and it was a rare on the first tame!
got mine in the outer courtyard of undercity ... and nailed a rare on my second try
went in with my terrible turnip and the rest of the taming crew but never did find anything over a poor ... with over 70 tries! thank GOD i got a pet stone from one of the taming dailies to advance one to a rare!
