Got this on my Rogue in 2009. After searching days on end for the books, I happened to notice they all spawn (or junk book spawn) after a server restart. Last night I was questing on my Warlock and got disconnected. 30 minutes later I ported to Dalaran and got 2 books and 3 junk books. Moral of the story- if you get disconnected for what seems to be server maintenance, hop over to Dalaran!
